I voted wrong! She didn't have any other sweets. Well except syrup with pancakes. My family was so annoyed I wouldn't let them give her cake or sweets at other parties.

I voted no (he had tasted cake before) but also he was too overwhelmed to eat any with everyone watching so he didn't even eat any sweets at his party. He did try a mini cupcake the next day. He ate all the sprinkles first, then the frosting, and finally the cake!

First kid - no sweets... nothing before first birthday. He's not a big cake person. Haha.
Second kid - totally had treats / sweets / cake before his birthday. He even had french fries before his first birthday. Dang I really let go of the food reigns for the second kid.

Ds1 had a banana bread cake for his first bday, no sweets before.
Ds2 is almost 8 months and had a Korean rice cracker that has a light sweet taste.

We offered her cake at her 1st bday but she wanted NOTHING to do with it. So she didn't eat it, and hadn't had any before then.

I'm pretty sure she had a couple cupcakes at daycare for other kids' bdays, but her first bday was the first time We personally gave her cake

Yes and he hadn't had any sweets up until then. He wasn't actually a fan of the cake anyway. Now at 2.5 he loves sweets

I voted no-they had cake before, but it wasn't my choice. My MIL took it upon herself to give my 9 month old some cake at a family birthday party without asking.
