A friend of mine told me today that his baby was never measured for length at the hospital. Maybe it's because the baby was well up the growth curve, so they weren't worried.
Is not measuring a baby's length a common thing?

My baby was measured. she was 20 inches. I though it was standard to measure

17.5 inches - a little peanut! He's now 26 inches at 7 months - has grown 10 inches, isn't that a lot!?

Yep, he was 20". He was 21.5" by his 5-day appointment, though.

Yup she was 19.25. But they didn't do length until she went down to the nursery for her bath (where as weight was done right away in the delivery room). I think hubs even had to ask the nurse. So maybe they measured your friend's baby but just never communicated the results to the parents?
Also... When I first read this thread title I thought it said did they measure your baby's strength and I was really intrigued as to how they would do that!

He was 19.5 inches! They seemed concerned because he was 8lbs 3 ounces. I guess they thought he should have been longer. DH is 5' 10" and I am only 5'4.

LO was measured but measured incorrectly! They said she was 18 inches but she was actually 19 at her 4 day appt. I guess they don't care to be accurate.

one thing we didn't catch was the APGAR scores.

Yep 18.5!!
But I never saw them do the apgar test thing and they never told me what she scored. She also didnt get foot prints.

Yeah, right away within minutes. But apparently it was wrong (by 1 cm) because we went in to the pediatrician twice during his first week, and both times he was shorter.

22.5"! She was long, at 8w probably about 24" (will know exactly on Friday!)
