He had the app on his phone to time my contractions. And when we got to the hospital he liked to tell me when I was having a contraction by looking on the computer when I was hooked up.... like I didn't know But I got an epidural so there wasn't much for him to do after that. We both got to take a nap!

My husband was so supportive and awesome. He rubbed my back and looked up accupressure points to help me get my labor going when it wasn't going fast enough. Mostly he was just a great energy in the room. I don't really remember him doing anything specific once I was in the final stages of labor, but feeling his support and love was really calming and reassuring.

My husband helped me time contractions and once we were admitted would watch the monitor to let me know when my contractions were coming, peaking and tapering off - this was an amazing help! The contractions he wasn't able to talk me through were definitely the hardest. He also was a huge help dealing with the Dr's. I found it way too hard to concentrate on them with contractions coming so quickly.

DH was active through every contraction with me (except right after I got the epidural and was sort of in a haze for a couple hours and he took a nap on the floor of the delivery room). For the 8 hours between when my water broke and when I got the epidural, he was walking with me, rubbing my back, talking me through it, letting me lean on him, etc. And once I was pretty much bed-bound after the epidural, he was still right there for every contraction, and when I was pushing, he was the one who counted out loud for every push (for three effing hours. that's no joke right there).

My husband was there through the entire 3 days that I was in labor. I let him sleep a little b/c he needed his rest, but he was there with me while I was in the bath, and he would hold me during contractions. He would help me breathe, and he would time the intervals between contractions. It was pretty amazing how supportive he was. If he had to go downstairs while I was laboring upstairs, he would even point the baby monitor at me, so he could keep an eye on me and hear me if I needed anything.

Prior to labor DH and I didn't really discuss his role as far as labor goes but he did an awesome job. I planned to not have any pain meds and really needed all the support I could get from him. He walked with me, rubbed my back, and did basically whatever I needed to make it through. The only time I almost killed him was while I was in transition standing in the shower. He zoned out and started whistling... Not acceptable Haha ... Other than that he did great.

Yes! I don't know if I would have been able go through labor and delivery unmedicated without him. We read Husband-Coached Childbirth - The Bradley Method of Natural Chilbirth, but we didn't take any classes prior to LO's birth. Once my contractions were painful, he coached me through each one and timed them. I did not want to be touched or hear anything but his voice. He helped me relax so much at home that I was already 7 cm dilated when we arrived at the hospital!

Once we were at the hospital, he continued to talk me through the contractions, brought me water, held my leg and basically did whatever I needed haha.

And then 30 or so minutes after LO was born, he passed out in an uncomfortable chair and slept for an hour

DH was super important during both my birth experiences. He literally held me up during contractions, talked me through each one, held my leg while I pushed, everything. Even when I got an epidural and fell asleep, he stayed awake and held my hand (both times!).

I feel so lucky, expecially since a firend of ours behaved so badly during both of his wife's deliveries. With the first one, he slept through most of her labor and the delivery (in the same room!) and with the second, he stopped for coffee on the way to the hospital when his wife was 8 cms along!
