I'm trying to find a wash/fold laundromat near our new place and wonder what a reasonable price for this service would be. Any city people who could give me an idea? I know it's per pound but that's it!

i'm sure it's different in different areas & depending on if they pick up drop off or not, but the lowest i could find was $.75/lb not including detergent & you had to drop off & pick up, they had a 25lb minimum i think. most were ~ $1. i live in MA & that was 3 years ago, so prob not that helpful =D

@mrs. bird: That's actually helpful! I found one place that is $1/lb., 30 lb. minimum for free pick up/delivery. Now to figure out how much 30 lb. actually is!

@LindsayInNYC: that sounds like a good deal! pick up drop off is huge! maybe weigh your hamper empty on your bathroom scale, then fill it & subtract the hamper weight

Our is 1$/lb and I don't actually think we have a minimum weight for pick-up/drop off. I think if you had this service 1x per week, you would easily hit 30 lbs!

@Trailmix: I think you can drop off/pick up any weight but there's a minimum for delivery. I wasn't sure if 30 lbs. was a lot or a little! It's just the 2 of us for now so I'm guessing we could go every other week?

$1/lb is what it costs in our neighborhood, if you wash towels/sheets along with your laundry weekly, you'll hit 30 lbs.

our place is 80 cents/lb but it's not delivered/picked up, we walk around the corner to get it

@lioneyes: Okay, sounds about normal... I'm thinking of doing towels/sheets myself since they're heavier. I don't mind one or two loads a month, just not 4 a week!
@nana87: I think that's the tradeoff - the cheaper places probably don't deliver. I'll have to figure out the best/most convenient option.

@LindsayInNYC: I would think with your heavier things, like towels, you would hit the 30 pounds easily in a week?

ours is 40cents (brooklyn) no delivers you have to drop it off and pick it up yourself. If they do everything for you then $1/lbs is pretty reasonable for the city
