If we were to replace our mattress, we'd go with the dual zone Sleep Number bed.
We currently have a Stearns and Foster that I paid over $2000 for, so it's not going anywhere.

We got the Sterns & Foster "Shantal" and love it. It's the same mattress the 4 seasons uses in their hotel rooms.

We bought a version of the tempurpedic from Costco and I have to agree that it's awesome.

The best advice I received while mattress shopping was to go to a store and try them out. Everyone is different when it comes to their sleep and what they want in a mattress. Otherwise, finding a store that has a solid return/exchange policy because you may not actually like the one you pick. The place where we bought our mattress gives 3 months to decide and they recommended waiting that 3 months to "break in" the mattress. If you're not satisfied in that time frame they will exchange for something different.
Good luck!

Same problem happened with us! It was a memory foam (like temperpedic but different company called Dormia) and after 5 or 6 years of use it collapsed and was so ridiculously soft and saggy. So horrible. I'm never getting memory foam again

We also have a Stearns and Foster Shantal like @Modern Daisy:. We ordered it through my work.

Another Stearns and Foster here! It is SO comfy. However, my back prefers the Simmons we have in the guest room.

I forget what brand we have but we have huge dents in it. We actually had someone come look at it. Luckily we now have a store credit to get a new one. We were told Stearns and Foster is the best!

I have a Hyatt Regency Grand hotel mattress. They ordered extra and I know a guy. Literally. Paid $350 for a king.
In any case - I love having a memory foam topper on a standard mattress. It keeps the comfort without the collapsing factor

@HellOnHeels: + 1 on the return/exchange policy.
We bought a new mattress a few months ago and it was wonderful when I tried it out...now? Not so much (it has a pillow top and I feel like I sink in it, turning over is a task).

we have one from costco! great return policy and great prices.

+1 to those who have mentioned a good return/exchange policy! We have 365 days to change our mind and exchange for a new mattress, which is amazing. Lying on a mattress in the store for 2 minutes (and you will be lying on many of them... they blur together!) will not give you a great indication of what it will be like to sleep on it for years.

@Mrs. Taco: ditto on the pillow top issue. I will NOT be getting a pillow top for our next mattress.

We've had really good luck with Original Mattress Factory. They're a local company, so I'm not sure you can get them everywhere. But I think it's the best mattress for the money. We didn't have the budget for a Tempurpedic.

We LOVE our Sleep Number mattress. It is so comfy and I could adjust it during my pregnancy to make it a little more supportive.
