How long do you plan to live there? I would consider the resale value of mismatched vs matching appliances. I bet you could find someone to donate the stove to.

Since you can afford it, I wouldn't hesitate to replace if you want to, and would just offer the stove for free to ease any guilt about waste. Local Buy Nothing groups are great for this kind of stuff!

Yep i would replace all. Our fridge went, then our chest freezer, then our dishwasher over about a 6 months span. Now I wish we did our oven and even washing machine and dryer since I feel we are on borrowed time and it would be nice to have them all the same and take advantage of a package discount. We actually got our original dishwasher for like $50 from a fb group of someone upgrading, and we gifted our busted chest freezer to someone who could fix it for cheap. Do it!

@Umbreon: we did this and donated our still working appliances to our local habitat for humanity. They will use good working appliances in houses they are building or resell at their store.

@Umbreon: I would replace all at the same time since finishes can change, go out of production, etc. Not all stainless steel is the same and a kitchen can look mismatched from just having different types of stainless.

I would replace and donate because you're nearing the built-in obsolescence of those appliances anyhow. THAT waste is totally on the manufacturers, not you.

However, I likely wouldn't do a matched set unless you're just doing it for resale. I get the best d/w, oven, and refrigerator in my budget and coordinate them as best as possible. I have unfortunately done more appliance shopping than I prefer to and I don't think you usually get the best individual items for your budget by doing a set from a single brand. I don't mind the visual "discord" of different labels on the fronts of my appliances. They're not that big. As long as the overall finishes look reasonably coordinated, it's fine with me, because no appliance sits right next to another appliance in many kitchens anyhow. If you go black SS, your sink (which probably also stands out visually in the kitchen) isn't going to coordinate, either, right? I think there's a tendency in housing choices generally to get too concerned about looks over function, when the function is the part that will really drive most people nuts if it's not right. That perfectly coordinated d/w will make you mad every time you use it if it's got an awful interior layout for your dishes, you know?

As for making the current fridge a garage fridge, I would not do that. Garages are not good environments for refrigerators. It's better to give it away to someone who will put it inside their home unless maybe you live like an hour or more away from a grocery store and only go once a month or feed a huge horde of people every day or something. I get why people have things like chest freezers (but still, not in the garage!), but a second fridge seems like a bad idea to me except in relatively unusual circumstances.

ETA: I've had really bad experiences with multiple LG appliances and their customer service. I'll never buy from them again.

We have the slate appliances from GE and LOVE them. They don't show finger prints and go really well with the greige tones in our house. We bought them all as a set: stove, fridge, dishwasher, and built in microwave for under 3k. You can save money by buying a bundle. Also, we opened up a Home Depot card to get their discount, bought a coupon off Ebay for an additional discount.

The only thing I would add is to look into what can be most quickly and easily serviced in your area, as being out a major appliance while waiting for service is the worst
