Following... I'm in the same boat. My 20 month old loves the boob. Since he learned how to speak his favorite phrase is "have boo boo" and "lie down". He nurses to sleep. I really want to wean him as he is only nursing at this point to sleep but nothing really works. It's so frustrating. I keep putting it off and I don't have the heart for CIO....

I stopped nursing except for the morning session and it did involve some crying but just for a few days. We weren't nursing overnight anymore so it was the afternoon when she wanted to nurse constantly.

What worked for us was never sitting down with her, wearing a hoodie, and offering juice and snacks instead of nursing.

For the last one, I had to have DH really step it up and step in. A mix of CIO and him holding him to sleep. It sucked because he's such a stubborn one, but I was so done.

I think the more you let her scream, and then eventually give in, you're reinforcing that screaming works. I think you need to just tell your husband to buck up and deal with 2-3 really awful nights, until she gets the message that it's not an option. It won't be fun for anyone, but it should be short lived and effective.

I night weaned at 2, I had to stop nursing in her bed/bedroom. We talked it over for a few days- you get your Milkies here (in the living room) and if you go all night without milkies you get a treat (sticker, Starbucks date, gum). After a week she was still waking up 1-2x a week, but knew she'd just get a hug and back rubs for a minute.
