DD is 3 and has always chewed/sucked on the corners of her lovey for comfort. We just saw the dentist who could tell by looking at her teeth that she sucks on something. They didn't specifically tell me she needed to stop but I'd like to kick this habit before it really affects her teeth. Not to mention it's kinda gross.
Has anyone weaned your LO from their lovey? I'm not quite sure how to handle it. I don't want to take it away from her completely if I can get her to cuddle with it instead of sucking on it. As of now she only uses it for naps and bedtime, and if she's really upset.
I have tried telling her not to bite baby, it hurts him... if she's in a playful mood she will stop and hug him instead, but if she's sleepy or upset I don't have the heart to make her stop. We just switched to a new daycare and the teacher is a little grossed out by it, I think, which is a good thing..!! haha. It looks like she keeps it away from her all day which is good.
