We are coming from Toronto to SoCal for the week, and I see that weather looks HOT (or maybe just HOT for my Canadian blood!)...what kind of clothes should I pack? We are deep into fall weather here, but I cannot imagine wanting a scarf around my neck in the weather it looks like we are in for. Advice?

I live about an hour north of LA. It has been the hottest summer I have ever experienced here! Pack shorts, dresses, skirts. You will not need a scarf. I'd bring a light jacket for mornings/evenings.

HOT!! We always say to dress in layers in SoCal because evenings can be chilly (which for us is 65...). I would bring primarily shorts and tees with maybe one pair of pants and one sweater...

Yesterday was 104 and today is currently 100. Even the beach communities are hitting the 90s this weekend. We are supposed to get a bit of a relief later in the week but that is still high 80s. I agree, shorts, tanks, maybe a light cardigan. Definitely not sweater and coat weather yet here. It doesn't get cold in LA until maybe dec - and by cold I mean 60s. We sometimes have thanksgiving (nov) in the 80s - talk about roasting a turkey all day with the house in that heat!
I'm jealous of all ya'll that have a real fall season!!!

I was in LA on Friday night and in a tank top outside until well after midnight - no jacket needed. Maybe only a light sweater at night if you will be on the coast. Anywhere inland, no way.

It's 9pm right now and still 88 degrees. Along with the shorts and tank tops that others have recommended, make sure you bring a hat because the sun is fierce.
