I won't share my weights, but I will say that ideally I will lose 16 lbs. currently I've lost 3.5, but I swear I drink one ounce of alcohol and I put it all right back on. So no wine for me

@Cole: I did really well! Stuck to points, ate well and made low fat banana strawberry bread which I portioned and froze. Plus I got to enjoy my skinny cow

Now I am about to meet another mummy for lunch and a walk

I am 8 months pp and sad to admit that I weigh more than I did the day LO was born. A lot more. I'm a stress eater, and life has been plenty stressful so even though the pregnancy weight came off rather quickly, I put it all back on in no time

I am very uncomfortable in my new body and for whatever reason I just can't seem to get out of this funk! I've started meal planning again, which I really enjoy, but something always seems to come up that changes the plan. So I need to stay focused on that. My goal for this week is to make it to one fitness class and to skip the servings of cake that will be floating around due to my bosses retirement party! Mmmm cake.... doh!

I would like to join! I want to lose 20 lbs. but 30 lbs. would be even better! Last week I quit my 1-3 Diet Cokes per day habit! This week I started an 8-week weight loss/healthier living challenge with some friends. It includes points for exercising, no soda/sweets, drinking water, food journaling, etc. I am following Weight Watchers to help me journal my food & better control what I am eating. I am cheering for all of us to reach our goals!

So, I finally went out and bought a scale today. I took measurements and my weight and I created a spreadsheet on google docs.

Anyway, the big news is that I am down 17.8lbs since the last time I was weighed 3 months ago!

@zippylef: Hurray for your loss! That sounds like a great, steady decrease!
@kentuckygirl: I am in the same boat, I need to lose 25 pounds but 30 would be great! Can you tell me more about your healthier living challenge? It sounds like fun! I have made a good old fashioned star chart for myself in the past and that sounds like a similar approach.
@beachbee: I haven't had a lo yet but I totally hear you on the stress eating thing! The last two years really have been stressful and I put on quite a bit of weight. It is disheartening to finally be coming out on the other side and to have yet another hurdle to deal with. I am a stress eater too and then you add on that I wound up needing to travel frequently and it was a recipe for disaster!
@AprilFool: Way to go on sticking to your points! I did ww in college and I loved making sure I had room for fun treats like skinny cows, it was basically my driving force on the program (which come to think of it was probably not the point... )
@Mrs. Jacks: Hurray for 3.5 pounds! It stinks that alcohol is affecting you so strongly. Do you think it might shift once you find a good rhythm with eating and exercise? (You might have one already but for me it seemed like something that could help )
@plantains: I hope your pizza and wings were yummy! What kinds of changes are you hoping to make? For me cutting back on the constant parade of sweets is at the top of my list!
@mrsjazz: It sounds like you were on a roll yesterday! How did you like the barley? Did you find a good recipe? I bought some and thought I could treat it like pasta and make a pasta salad type of dish and it was not very good but I would like to give it another shot.
@BlueWolverine: How did your weigh in go?
@pui: Have you had a chance to take your bike out for a spin? I have been thinking about getting one but I am not sure if I would use it enough to justify the cost.
@blackbird: It looks like you are off to a great start, I love that you picked a non-weight loss goal too!
@looch: You are off to a great start too! I love the feeling of clothes starting to feel loose! That is one of the things I am looking forward to most!
@BeachMama: How is is going today? Perhaps I am not the best judge of such things but I don't really see a handful of chocolate chips as a fail The way I see it is if I don't leave myself wiggle room for the occasional indulgence I am up a creek and this will never work! I hope you have a great day today though!
@grizz: I am hoping to lose about the same amount as you, your plan seems like a solid one.
@Crumbs: I think your plan for starting out with a few smaller goals is a good one and it is the approach I am taking right now. I keep having false starts where I am all in for about 36 hours and then fizzle out. I figure if I keep adding good habits as I go it might make it easier to sustain. How is it going for you today?
@HLK208: Thanks for pointing out that thread, I will check it out. It looks like you are off to a great start and have found a nice groove.
@sslm: You are another one who is on a roll! I am looking to lose about the same amount as you, are you doing ww online or the meetings?

I really hope I didn't miss anyone! I had a weird copy and paste thing going on since we have two pages! I recently came across this blog http://www.canyoustayfordinner.com/ which is written by a woman who had an amazing weight loss journey and right now is helping her mom lose weight and they are chronicling the whole thing. She focuses a lot on food and has some great recipes and meal ideas. Has anyone else found a good resource? I am someone who researches everything to death so I love reading anything I can get my hands on!

Today I made a big blender full of smoothie to start the day with and I am going to go to yoga at 11:30. I have a bunch of errands to do today and I would like to make a batch of muffins or quick bread to keep on hand for a reasonable snack when I am craving simple carbs. Any suggestions?

@cole, i like banana bread, but one slice has something like 250 calories and a ton of sugar. I did make some banana bread with coconut flour last week: http://civilizedcavemancooking.com/grain-free-goodies/paleo-banana-bread/ it's higher protein+fiber and less calories than traditional banana bread (~150/slice). It has almond butter in it! It's really good, too. I definitely found it more filling than regular banana bread.

I had two glasses of wine last night--I'll cut back on food, but I'm not giving up wine! And I got up at 4:40am to work out this morning. I have a softball game after work today, too.

Soo today was the first day since having baby #2 (13 months ago) that I thought I looked like my old self again. Just a little bit. Not entirely but I'm already starting to feel better about my image - the hard work is paying off! Down 7 pounds, 25 more to go!

  9. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

    @zippylef: What a nice surprise!

@Cole: It's kind of my driving force too! Haha I am getting better at tracking that treat in the morning though rather than getting to the end of the day and eating it anyway.

http://www.skinnytaste.com/ is a great resource and I made the banana/strawberry bread from here the other day and it was tasty! I am really looking forward to making these http://sweettreatsmore.com/2013/01/applesauce-cinnamon-oat-muffins/ but I need to point them first. And am making some 1pt bikkies later this arvo when LO naps. I am loving baking atm.

@HLK208: It's such a good feeling when you can see the hard work start to pay off. Such motivation to keep going.

Ok, I am jumping in here a little late because I need to get serious about dropping weight. I've been excusing myself of getting serious about it...finishing grad school, moving cross-country, company in town, weddings, travel, etc. But those excuses end now! I think I'll do infinitely better with a support system in place, so here I am.

I was successful at losing ~20lbs last summer via MyFitnessPal and daily exercise (Jillian Michaels DVDs and long bike rides). Unfortunately, during the course of the school year I gained most of it back. So I'm starting back at step 1.

I'm going to start tracking my food via MFP (It was like a game for me last summer, which is why I was so good at it). I also finally got my bike fixed (had a horrible accident last summer that left it-and me- non-functional). And I guess I'll dig those JM DVDs out of the moving boxes in the garage.

As soon as I get home (currently visiting friends in CO) I'll take measurements, as that has been a better indicator for me in the past.

    That's it, wish me luck!

  13. SugarplumsMom

    bananas / 9227 posts

@MediaNaranja: Yay! Welcome and thank you for reminding me to update my measurements. I'm also using MFP and I've kind of been horrible about updating.

Have fun with your visit and good luck

My update today is that I've now lost 4 lbs. Also, a few of you are now friends on my fitness pal. I will be perfectly honest and say that I was not going to work out tonight since I'm pretty tired, but when I saw that each one of you on MFP did, I got my butt up and went to swim... And that, my friends, is the power of peer pressure, thank you very much!

Anyone else who wants to link up with me on MFP, user name is Zoliepup.

@Mrs. Jacks: Good for you! I'm new to MFP, quick question: will friends see my weight?

  16. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@Crumbs: Nope! Only how much you lost and you can restrict them from seeing your food diary if you want too. I actually made mine visible to friends because I want to hold myself accountable.

  17. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

    I'm HeatherF6411 on MFP!

I'm up to running 5 miles but I do about 2-3 every day. I also do ripped in 30 but I have to be honest, it's my least favorite part of the day.

Also, I think I wrote this on the other thread but weekends are hard for me! I have one cheat meal but I still work out and otherwise I don't eat anything bad through out the week/the rest of the weekend. I know that it will set me back from losing weight as quickly as I want to though.

  18. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

    @Crumbs: @Mrs. Jacks: Nice work!

I lost .8 at weigh in. This week has been a little average so far but still have time to get a good loss.

@HLK208: Weekends are sooo tough! I try to have a few treats but try to keep them reasonable, home made cake or breakfast out. I might make a BLT instead of going out for one. Certainly is tricky though.

    Can I play?

I need to get back on the bandwagon with healthy eating and exercise. I've been letting things go lately, and my weight has been slowly creeping up. My main goal is to get as healthy as possible before TTC this winter. I'm going to weigh in and take measurements tomorrow morning, but right now I think I need to lose about 15 lbs.

DH and I just got back from vacation, and unfortunately we have a lot of junk in the house (treats we brought back with us). I'm going to start things off tomorrow by getting back into my Insanity workouts and start a 3-day smoothie cleanse (I'll do the Dr. Oz cleanse for breakfast and lunch, and a healthy dinner).

Does anyone use LoseIt? That's what I use to track. I'd be interested in adding friends to get some extra accountability on there!

  20. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

I'm stagnant the last couple of days and that makes me sad because I've been under on calories and over on exercise. C'mon, body... Get with the program!

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

    Nice job, everyone!

@mrs. jacks, I saw your swim today! High five

    Keep with it, everyone!

eta; Does anybody wear a heart rate monitor? It'll give you an *accurate* idea of how many calories are being burned. MFP grossly over-inflates them. I've been burned in the past with that.

  22. MrsBrewer

I'm in! I'm training for a 5k right now, and DH and I go on run/walk every other day averaging about 2.5 miles. I've been really watching when I eat lately, so far I'm down about 4 lbs!

Ideally I was to be 140. So I'll post it here....but I'm at 195 right now. So I have 55 lbs that I need to lose!

  23. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@blackbird: My tactic is to always count my calories excluding the work out, that way I know I'm under no matter what. I never go over my resting total.

I wish I could wear a HR monitor in the pool.

  24. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@mrs. jacks, I think as long as you're getting net caloric intake of 1200, you should be fine then! I know the body can go into starvation mode sometimes if you eat, say, 1300 calories and then burn off 500 and end up with net 800. I always kind of wonder about that, though....(eating "back" calories, etc, and what the best tactic is)

I was so sad the day i found out I wasn't really working as hard as MFP led me to believe i was, lol. MFP was counting my spin class as like 700 calories or something crazy burned...heart rate monitor said i was only hitting 450. Lame.

They do make heart rate monitors that can go underwater :). Christmas gift maybe!

  25. loveisstrange

    pineapple / 12526 posts

The unfortunate news is that my 17lb weight loss was just because my new scale was on crack BUT, I have legitimately lost 10.6lbs as of today! I took new body pictures and I can actually see the difference, which Im pretty happy about. I've lost .5 off my hips/butt and .5 off my underbust measurement in 3 days. I'm ALMOST down to my pre-baby weight finally, but still a long way to go. I'm 44lbs from my goal.

I start my pole dance class on Tuesday! SUPER excited about that.

@blackbird: I need to get a heart rate monitor. I have a heart condition that causes episodes of tachycardia, so I have to keep an eye on it.

    Progress!

  26. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@zippylef, nice job! 10 lb is still awesome! And you can totally tell!

When i was pregnant, i had a Polar monitor that used to beep if I went above a certain heart rate. Very helpful!

  27. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@zippylef: Total amazing progress! You should be really proud.

I'm also learning that what I eat is almost as important as how much I eat. If my body feels like it's getting enough fat/protein, I'll continue to lose... but on my best days when I really feel like I'm cutting down on fats, that's when my body thinks I'm starving and shuts down. So last night I polished off the day with cake and ice cream (birthday party) and I did much better than other days when I don't indulge. Weird!

  28. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@mrs. jacks, ahhhh there's so much out there now on why eating more fats are good for you and why low fat diets are a reason why america is so overweight. i, personally, function better on a high protein and higher (healthy) fat diet!

  29. Mrs. Jacks

@Mrs. Jacks: is it odd that I like reading everyone's food entries on MFP?!

  32. Espion

Oh holy cow, I am so jumping in! Now nearly 2 months post-partum, I'm ready to stop deleting pictures DH takes of me off his phone! (I gained 27 pounds and near as I can tell, I'm within 10 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight. But I was another 21 pounds of what I should be. So 31 pounds it is!) I'm desperate to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes before I start work in September. I do not have the money for a new work wardrobe!

As soon as I get my phone back, I'm going to download MFP. DH and I are going to work out an exercise schedule. Since one or the other of us has to take care of the LO while we exercise, it's extra motivation to actually get something done. Thankfully, we have access to a gym/aerobics classes that we don't have to pay for (if there is one good thing about the military...)

For diet, I'm going modified Paleo. I'm still working like crazy at breastfeeding and I don't want to hurt my supply. But the year I gave up flour for Lent, I felt pretty great. So the energy couldn't hurt!

I'm going to start by making a good food choice for dinner tonight!

@zippylef: That is some serious progress! You look great!

    I'm spamming this thread.

Is there a way to modify the calories per day on MFP?

I'm Dingo131 !! (I couldn't think of a name and my dog is laying down next to me. We call him dingo (not his name) all the time and it was all I could think of, heh.)

  35. HLK208

@Espion: Apparently you can add breastfeeding under food on MFP. Or what I would do is making it a custom exercise and add 400ish calories daily.

  36. Espion

    pomegranate / 3577 posts

@HLK208: Heh, that's wild. I put it under "snacks".

  37. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@Espion: You can also modify it by saying you are more active than you are in your activities of daily living. So instead of saying you sit at a desk all day you can say that your work involves moderate activity.

@HLK208: I love looking at what people eat. Sometimes it gives me ideas about my next snack/meal!

  38. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@HLK, i always check peoples' food! Sometimes it's just to comment on it but sometimes just because it's there

@espion, i eat a modified paleo (this weekend notwithstanding)! I do paleo plus greek yogurt and some cheese. Lots of meal ideas on my board

My weight hasn't changed at all in the last 2 weeks (i'm putting muscle back on!) but i lost 1.5" on my waist! In two weeks! Woot!
