@mrsjyw: I don't have email addresses, just user names. People were able to add me with just my user name. I just don't know how to add others.

@Mrs. Jacks: you go to friends, at the bottom there's a blue add friends tab, then select e-mail and you're able to enter user names instead

Hi everyone! I'd like to jump in if that's ok.

I changed my habits at the beginning of July, and so far, I'm staying on track. I've lost 8 lbs, but could really use the motivation to continue on this track.

I've found that water aerobics and swimming are the best exercises for me. I've tried running (I hate it) and classes at my local gym. The classes themselves are good - unfortunately the classes are way too crowded and there is a large clique that makes new people feel like outsiders. I also like the spinning classes, but they don't work with my schedule.

I am taking advantage of the kitchen we have at work and have almost completely stopped eating out for lunch. We follow a very healthy meal plan program for dinners that I really like.

Does anyone use the Noom Coach app? I really like it, but the friends option of MFP seems helpful. Has anyone used both?

I'm a little annoyed at the limited weights and measures when you search food. (For instance, I put a tablespoon of brown sugar on my oatmeal. Would have been so much easier to put "1 tablespoon" rather than "3 teaspoons"... Blergh!

Also, did not make a healthy food choice with a PB&J for dinner, ha! But it was 10 pm with no time to cook, because our movers are here today with our stuff. (YAY for an actual bed. So close to getting stabby with the air mattress.)

@blackbird: I'm going to try to limit my modified Paleo to oatmeal in the mornings and some dairy. A life without cheese is sad indeed!

ETA: And, apparently, brown sugar. ha!

I don't have much to add, just that I am in a new size of this morning.

I don't use anything other than the Weight Watchers tools (mostly online) to track my food intake. I am a lazy exerciser, which means I hardly get to the gym, which I know is a problem. I have a feeling without some serious exercise, I will plateau where I am...which is not great.

Problem is my schedule, I already begin my days at 5:15 so getting up earlier isn't an option. At night, I try to squeeze in time with my son and get ready for the morning. I prefer not to work out during the work day because I have a lot of meetings. I guess I need to do something before I head home? I tried it but couldn't stick to it.

Another option is crossfit, right by my parents home...it's on the way to pick up my son...thoughts?

I had a pretty good weekend. Managed to avoid all junk food, and I went on some pretty good bike rides (5 miles, 25 miles, 15 miles, and 30 miles), as well as a 5-mile walk when I had to leave my car at the mechanic overnight.

Still haven't managed to weigh or measure myself, but the pants I wore this morning felt a lot less tight than the last time I wore them 2 weeks ago. It could either be that they are simply stretched out a bit more, or that I have lost a bit of weight...I prefer to think that it's the latter

  10. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@MediaNaranja: good job!! I really want to get a new bike - I love bike riding!

So, I bought the baby kale/spinach/chard mix from Trader Joe's and it has made my green smoothies way more filling.

Oh and today, I weighed less than I have in two years! Woop woop! Finally broke that number that I haven't been able to get under.

    @HLK208: awesome, girl!!!!

I haven't worked out since last Monday. Today, I need to get back into it. My food hasn't been too bad though. But, my body needs both working out and modified dieting. So....tonight after LO goes to bed, my butt is on the treadmill!

  12. HLK208

    pineapple / 12234 posts

@TurtleDoves: thanks! I know what you mean, my body doesn't look good with just dieting or just exercising. It takes a lot of both to get anywhere.

  13. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@looch: What about walking with your LO and SO in the evening. Even a 30 minute walk is over 100 calories burned and it fires your muscles... and it's relaxing!

@blackbird: I am going to stop by on the way home this week and see if they have a 4:30 time slot. I figure I can go two or three times a week. It's better than NOTHING, right?

@MsLipGloss: Haha, I am in size 8, which is aweseome, you're right. I should celebrate it more! I guess I feel kind of stuck, I technically didn't lose anything last week, but I was nervous to try the pants on, in case I gained? I don't know, it's the mental mind games that make this so challenging!

@Mrs. Jacks: excellent idea, and great for the nights I come home earlier. My son is getting a lot better about holding hands or staying on the sidewalk, so it would be a good way to get everyone moving. Bonus is there is a playground at the end of the street!

@zippylef: I can't wait to go back. It definitely made me feel more confident and sexy . . . the women in my classes were all so supportive and encouraging of one another!

@looch: Were you able to do a walk? We did tonight and it was disaster! I definitely got a work out wearing and then chasing M and the dog, but it wasn't that fun or relaxing today

Did my pole class last night. OMG, im hooked. I came home and immediately started researching one to put in my house. Lol

I will say.... my upper body (arms, shoulders, upper back) are SO SORE.

Nice job everybody!!! It's almost the weekend. I don't know about you guys, but i have two birthday parties this weekend, which means wings, pizza, cake, soda, and junk. Gonna have to pick what's worth it for sure. Because Dominos? Is not.

@looch, 2-3x/week is still a LOT. You'll gain a lot of strength with CF. Helps with toting babies around

@zippylef, BAD ASS!! Get your sexy on, dude! If it makes you feel sexy, that'll be awesome. So important because it's hard to feel sexy as a mom sometimes

@turtledoves, my body also needs diet AND exercise. I'm one of those people who prides herself on being FIT, not just slender. I don't want to be "skinny fat" and being strong is important to me! When I exercise, what i put into my body is even MORE important because it's fuel. And man, do I feel it when I eat like shit. I don't have the energy to push through.

A lot of my goals aren't just tied to my weight, but tied to being able to lift a certain amount, have a certain amount of endurance, and being able to accomplish certain tasks. I know that when I reach those goals, I look and feel a certain way, and that is the MOST important.

I will say that now that I added extra cardio sessions on non-crossfit days (blogilates and insanity at home), i can really feel and see it now. One of the girls at the gym was all, "baby? what baby!" lol

But if i have to choose, I'll choose cake this weekend, I think Or wings. Cake or wings. Hmm....I do like wings.

  26. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@blackbird: I'm totally about the wings!

And if I'm not careful, I'll be heading for thin-flabby. Someone brought cheesecake factory cheesecake into work yesterday afternoon. Damn it all if I didn't have a piece and then feel like crap. I'm planning to up my protein and lower my sugar in the next few days. Unfortunately, I have an overnight shift tonight, which generally messes everything up!

  27. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

cheesecake factory is evil. that is all. their raspberry-lemon cream cheesecake is my favorite.

Sugar/baked goods/etc are one of those things where, if I avoid them, I don't want them. But as soon as I start having some, i want more and more. So it's usually best if i just pass on them completely

  28. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@blackbird: That is exactly right. The sugar crave builds on itself. Salty too.

  29. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Mrs. Jacks: You mean all the numbers and stats? Yeah, I understand what you mean. It's too easy for me to fixate and fall back into old patterns. Somedays I do okay, but if I catch it on a bad day . . . *jinkies*

  30. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@blackbird: I agree re skinny fat. To me, it doesn't matter what size you are, not having any tone never looks good.

  31. plantains

    grapefruit / 4671 posts

@Mrs. Jacks: ah cheesecake, the ultimate roadblock!

I need to watch out for thin flab too. I am so lazy, time to find a way to work exercise in. Pilates, here I come. If only I could figure out a way to unglue DD from between my legs, it would be much easier.

  32. Mrs. Jacks

    blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts

@MsLipGloss: so when I see people who are my same height and have a starting weight that is similar to my goal weight or when I see pictures or goals that make me feel nervous or uneasy about myself it makes me re-experience the issues that led to an unhealthy relationship with food.

I spent too long in a restrictive place and have no desire to re-visit past challenges.

Sadly, the other thread made me want to quit sharing this journey altogether, but I had previously really appreciated what I felt was very non-judgmental healthy support that I experienced on this thread. And to be clear, I'm not saying
that anyone else's experience of the other thread should or might be the same as mine. That's just where I ended up with it.

  33. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

Just do whatever will make you stay in the best state of mind! It's so easy to compare; we've all done it. "Put it in your mind-vice and crush it" (30-rock anyone?)

It really is about being healthy and taking care of yourself. Which we all know can definitely go to the wayside with kids.

  34. loveisstrange

    pineapple / 12526 posts

@Mrs. Jacks: I felt similarly about the other thread, being the largest one there at the time I posted. It made me a little uncomfortable.

E was not impressed by Shaun T lol

  36. loveisstrange

    pineapple / 12526 posts

@blackbird: Not today, but im going running tomorrow. Im meeting up with some friends, but I don't know how much running either of them will do.

We've been busy all week and I've been feeling a little fatigued and stressed out, so not much exercising has been done this week. I'm down .2lbs, so I'm only .6lbs away from my first major SV!

@Mrs. Jacks: stick around you're doing awesome on MFP!

Down 15 lbs now...(I never recorded my highest weight on MFP - I was in denial). I'm running faster and yoga is getting easier!

@zippylef: That's awesome. I imagine I would be more like Bridget Jones sliding down the fire pole. Ha!

Since I'm so paranoid about backtracking my supply, I'm aiming to get enough calories to maintain my weight (even though it is overweight for me) and exercising about every other day. I'm so out of shape!! We hiked a small ski hill yesterday and I started getting lightheaded near the top! My main goal is to get back to where running 5 - 7 miles was nothing. I'm definitely gonna hurt getting there!
