I went to Chipotle for lunch today and ordered my usual. When I went to pay I realized I didn't have any form of payment on me. So dumb and really embarrassing. The woman must have seen and believed my surprise and she let me have my burrito. Which was awesome.
How do I rectify the situation without getting the woman busted for giving me a burrito? I didn't recognize her as one of the usual cashiers.

I don't think you can pay Chipotle without possibly getting the cashier in trouble. I would just spot the person behind you next time or give some $$ to the food bank so you even out your karma

I had this happen to me once at hale and hearty - she gave me a receipt and told me I could come back and pay it. If you didn't get a receipt, I'd let it go and pay it forward somehow.

Keep an eye out for her and get her name, and then email a corporate address and give her a shoutout.
People and businesses get recognized for bad service...(yelp...google reviews...nasty Facebook reviews). But for every 10 complaints I only ever see one positive comment or review
You don't have to specify what she did or how she helped, only that she went above and beyond. Because, really, she did. Her till wouldn't have come out even at the end of her shift.

I wouldn't hesitate to contact the manager about it. She likely cancelled the sale and the food would have been wasted if it wasn't given to you. I would emphasize your appreciation for the kindness of the employee.

I would contact the store and leave a positive review of her. FWIW, one of my cousins is a poor starving musician/artist and apparently Chipotle is pretty well known for giving free burritos to traveling starving musicians 
so I doubt you would cause her to get in trouble

I've done this before, not at Chipotle, but at a local burrito joint. They still let me have my burrito and I went back later and gave them the cash.

Yikes, this is one of my biggest fears! I've had a mini heart attack a few times when I couldn't find my wallet.
Whew, glad you got to have your lunch! I'd write a glowing review for her (not referring to the free burrito, though) and pass it on somehow.

My daughter worked for chipotle , she was allowed to not charge a certain # of customers up to her discression . I can not remember the amount but she would use it if it looked like someone was having a bad day , or short of cash or even as a play it forward if she noticed a customer going out of their way for another.

In the restaurant industry this is not something she would get in trouble for. It happened to me once at the sandwich joint by my old work- it was pre wrapped and everything and they said no worries it's on us. I'd just double pay next time and email corporate.
