Mrs Train' post has me wondering.
Did you think there were monsters in your closet? I never did and neither did any of my cousins or Chinese friends. I never knew it was a thing until TV. Which leads me to wonder if it's a western / American phenomenon?!

I never did! I never really got scared of fiction stuff as a kid though.

Not the closet, but I was a bit worried about them under the bed. I would always leap in and out of bed in the dark so they wouldn't grab my ankles.

no, but my brother told me alligators lived under my bed and the floor turned to lava at night
i used to haul ass into bed!

I was scared of monsters but not in the closet but rather in the corners or behind book shelves.
