Congrats!!! I was and I wasnt. I was excited to have the comfort of my home but having the food brought to me and the ease of knowing there was SO much help around me was nice.

yes! both times! even though I knew that with DD I was bound to have a semi-freak-out about having two kids under 15 months in the house, I so just wanted to be home as a family.

I wanted to go home a day early.

We were SO ready. I had A at around 7 pm and we could have gone home late the next day but they suggested we stay one more night to get some more help with breastfeeding since he refused to nurse the first 24 hours. So we ended up staying 2 nights and by morning we wanted to get out of there and of course they take forever to discharge so we didn't leave until around 12 pm.

I was in no rush, though I guess I was ready. It was nice to be home in a non hospital bed but a little terrifying! I also took advantage of the nursery, just for a few hours at night, since once we left no one was goin to take her for me!

@Running Elley: before having Lo I was like, what kind of mom would send their baby to the nursery? All judgy and everything. Then I had her and I was so tired and she had eaten but needed to be held and I was like, ooooooh. I get it. The nice nurse can take care of her while I sleep!

I think I'll be ready to get out this second time and be with both my babies! I've never been away from ds more than 10-12 hours.

I got 2 nights in the hospital, plus my labor went overnight, so I was there for 4 days and 3 nights total. I wouldn't have minded a couple of weeks more! Room service, and doctors and nurses checking on me and baby around the clock, lactation consultants at the push of a button? Yes please! I don't get why people don't like hospitals, everyone was so stinking nice and reassuring!

I wanted to stay longer the first time but I was eager to go home the second time. I missed my toddler!

Yes! I didn't get much sleep at all with all the different people coming in and out constantly. I was ready to sleep in my own bed!

No, but my baby was in the NICU, so the last thing I wanted was to be even father from him. Luckily they got a nesting room for me to stay close by. I'm sure it will be a different story with a toddler at home.

By the time we were finally discharged, I was pulling out my hair.

I was admitted on Oct 9th, as I was being induced with gel. My water broke at 10pm that night and I went into labour fast. DD was born at 5am on Oct 10.

I didn't get to go home until Oct 15th.

It was tortuous. There were so many women in the Mat-ward that I ended up with a room mate who was horrendous. I ended up at the nurses station having an emotional breakdown, begging them to let me go home or to find me another room (that god they were so compassionate and moved me into the first private room that was available).

Every day we woke up, DH and I were asking the nurses if we could go home yet. It was really difficult.

When we got the ok, we RAN out the door. Like literally. I got out of there so fast that I forgot things and had to have my mom go back to pick them up. lol

I feel so badly for anyone who needs to stay in hospital for an extended amount of time. Even at our amazing hospital, it was tortuous.

LO was born at 1am Sat. And we were ready to go by about 3pm. Two of the nurses were ridiculously pushy. One made DH cry and one made me cry. I got a "conditional discharge" at 11am Sunday. We had to wait until 3pm to see the lactation consultant for final clearance. It felt like forever.

Our hospital didn't have a nursery but a nurse did take LO to weigh her while I was sleeping that first night. LO had already gained an ounce so the nurse let me sleep 4 hours. It felt fantastic.

I was ready to be home but enjoyed the help My husband, however, was more than ready...he wanted his own bed!

Lo was born 10.56pm on thursday and I wasn't discharged until 4pm on Monday. I felt ready to go home on Saturday but they wanted me in for observation for my bleeding disorder. They wanted me to stay until Tuesday at the earliest but when my midwife visited on monday morning I broke down and told her I didn't want to be there anymore (crappy nurses, crappy food, dh wasn't allowed to stay, was roomed with 2 other women the whole time)

Not with ds cause he had to stay in the nicu. But after pushing S out I was ready to go! They let me go the next morning. I don't think they would have been able to stop me lol.

i loved the hospital! but didn't end up staying too long either time. with the first we stayed 1.5 nights (does the morning he was born count as a night?), and the second we left a few hours after he was born (ultra short labour and delivery).

for the first, we left earlyish because DH was super uncomfortable in the pull out chair/bed, and for #2 we left right away so we could be home with LO#1 :). i love having the nurses around and the huge bathroom and people to clean everything up, but it is nice to be home, too!
