Yes! I loved it! I hope I have a girl one day, cause I fully intend on building one for her!

Well that's weird, somehow I ended up responding on a different thread than I meant to...ignore me, everyone!
And no, I didn't have a doll house. lol

@wonderstruck: I'm sorry I changed the post because I had second thoughts on what I wrote about my personal life. Feel free to remove yours too.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Ahh, okay! Thanks for letting me know, thought the sleep deprivation was really making me go crazy for a minute!

@Dandelion: totally. A doll house would be the driving force for wanting a girl. Lol
I loved the ones that were wall papered and had electricity. My parents bought one for me, but never put it together. It had a shingled roof.

My dad built me a beautiful victorian-style doll house, with yellow siding! I loved it! My mom took me on special shopping trips to buy victorian-style dollhouse furniture It was on a piece of plywood covered in astroturf so it had a lawn as well, and was bolted to the window seat in my room so that it could swing open and shut. My parents still have it at their house, just waiting for a granddaughter

no, and I always wanted one SOO badly, I always would play with my friends' when they had them. I did build my own out of a cardboard box at one point, lol, but it doesn't count, I wasn't very crafty
this is actually a running joke in my family now, my dad jokes that he was a bad father because he never bought me one (obviously, just a joke, he's an amazing dad!). I tease him that if I have a daughter, he will have to buy her a doll house like Queen Mary's: http://46.236.36.161/queenmarysdollshouse/home.html

Yes, and I still have it! I have several actually, 2 of them I am completely remodeling and restoring.
I also make and sell 1/12 dollhouse scale mini food and other miniatures for adult collectors and go to a huge dollhouse/miniature convention every year.

@yoursilverlining: That's so awesome. I might have to become a doll house nerd if I never have a daughter, lol.

Yep, my dad built it for me and I loved it. He still has in stored away at his house for his future granddaughter(s).
DH says he's going to build one for our daughter when she's old enough.

Yes and I loved it. I got it as a kit when I was maybe 10-11 and spent the better part of a year assembling it with a hot glue gun. I loved the whole project including making miniature furniture and food items.

Yes, and I still have it! My mother made it for me from a kit; a lot of the wallpaper in the house is the same that we had in our first house. She also made a lot of really gorgeous furniture from X Acto House of Miniatures kits. As I got older I would make things (from scrap pieces of wood, or pretend food from fimo).
We started applying shingles to it and stopped halfway through. I should really finish it [25 year old unfinished project].

Yes! My papaw made my sisters and I one by hand. It was so awesome. I'm not sure where it is now. My oldest sister wanted it to pass down to her daughter but my mom doesn't know where it's at. I hope we still have it!!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: No, never had a dollhouse, (we were a thrifty family) but always dreamed of having one! Not even the plastic or Barbie kind but even those would have been so fun to have. I was always fascinated with the miniature figurines that replicated real-life furnitures and such. I have a baby girl now so can't wait to see what she's into so I can see her have fun with the girlie toys that I never had!

@StrawberryBee: That's so cool! I can't wait to build dollhouse things with my daughter.

I had a plastic Little Tikes doll house, where the dolls swiveled at the hip to put them in a sitting position. It all the Little Tikes things I had (ie Cozy Coupe, Green and Yellow Kitchen, etc.) only in miniature. I loved it, and I still think about it from time to time LOL.

@nana87: LOL! That dollhouse will makeup for lost times for sure. Our family was very thrifty so I had very little toys. I also built a dollhouse out of cardboard boxes. I even made "toy foods" with paper, crayons, and scissors. We were rewarded for making good grades by being able to play outside all day long. If I got in trouble at school or home, I had to stay indoors and read library books. I hardly ever got in trouble though, I was always an "A" student. It was a good childhood though. I am very crafty and creative because of my "deprived" upbringing.

@Kimberlybee: you'll have a blast! My daughter is only four and a half weeks old and I'm already looking forward to sharing it with her :).
I also think the Calico Critters stuff is adorable.

@Kimberlybee: we plan to be a low-toy family too. I think a dollhouse will spur hours of imagination and creative play though.
@yoursilverlining: that's so cool. So talented. My friend and I created bedding for our Barbies (cotton ball slipped in fabric and stapled became a pillow for instance) and would bake mini bread loafs for them to eat. Not the best job, but it worked for us.
