Georgia cut huge tax breaks for the movie industry, so we have lots of filming here all the time - in fact, The Walking Dead is filmed where I live! It's funny that when we see signs saying, "Don't Mow Here," while driving we know it means they are going to be filming in the next few days.

NJ has more diners than any other state. Which is handy, when you're hungry at midnight

PA - no tax on clothes!!

PA is a Commonwealth with the largest Amish population in the world, and is home to the nation's oldest golf course, first zoo, first computer (used) and first baseball stadium. We also have dumb alcohol laws here. We can't buy anything in grocery stores (although some stores side-step that through some loop-holes), for the most part can't buy anything on Sundays (although a wine and spirits store near me is open for 5 hours on Sunday, but I'm not sure how!). Wine and spirits are state-run stores, and most of the beer you can buy has to be bought in a case from a beer distributor. Profits from the sale of lottery tickets and the state wine and spirits stores go into a slush fund that pays my salary! (I work for the state).

In Wisconsin in summer, we have the largest music festival called Summerfest with 2,500 different performers! There is 1 main stage that you have to get tickets for, but all of the other stages are free (you only have to pay admission which is $15ish I think

When we think of Hollywood we think of actors, movies, and Cali, but Hollywood, FL on SE Broward was first!

I live in Arkansas and we have a state park where you can actually dig for diamonds. It's the only diamond producing site in the world where the public can dig for diamonds. Whatever you find you actually get to keep!

@lovehoneybee: When we first moved to PA I went to a beer place to get a 6 pack for DH - they gave me a blank stare and said they could sell me a case - I was like I don't want a case!! Of course, I had to buy the case

@JennyLayneAZ: It's a separate room of a grocery store that sells beer. I think you can buy up to 2 single bottles to drink in the café (which has seating), and 2 6-packs to go (which are hard to find at a reasonable price in PA because of our alcohol laws). I think they have to have a special liquor license (REALLY hard to come by here), and you pay for them at a separate register (so you can't just put a 6-pack in your cart with the rest of your groceries).

Red Bull is from the country where I live. And most locals have never heard of The Sound of Music even though it's an American Classic!

@JennyLayneAZ: I moved here from Louisiana, where you could buy beer and liquor at a gas station and beer, wine, and liquor at the grocery store. It was hard to get used to when I moved here!
