The first time I went skiing was with my 7th grade class so I was 12 or 13. I loved it! I've seen kids as young as 3 skiing (I think you need to be older to snowboard).
Olive is not very physically inclined, so maybe we'll first take the kids when they're a little bit older. I just want the kids to be exposed to lots of different sports!
When did you first go? Did you love it? Do you still do it?

I am 38 and still haven't gone! I REALLY want to but am also scared to death about going down the hill and not being able to stop!!!

My first time was age 20. I wish we lived closer to snow. It's such a production to go anywhere it snows. I would love to take the kids when my youngest turns 3.

Skiied for the first time at 17 with my BFF and her family! They were shocked I had never Skiied before! But- Minnesota is flatland so there aren't too many downhill skiers here unless you're like my friend and travel to Utah/Colorado a lot.
I had a snowboard as a kid I would use on one hill at home but it wasn't like a real hill. So in that sense I've never technically snowboarded.
There is a ski resort about 2-3 hours from here, and once J is 5-6 we plan to take him!! DH grew up skiing all the time in Vermont and New Hampshire. He really wants to share that with J.

I've never been snowboarding. I went skiing for the first time at 12. I loved it! I still do. I haven't been in 6 years though. I can't wait to go with DH one day.

ETA: I did downhill skiing and cross country skiing until high school. I also snowboarded occasionally in high school. In college I stopped downhill skiing because it was too expensive, but have continued cross country skiing. I still do it, and love it. Its one of my favorite winter sports. I haven't been able to go this winter or last because of pregnancy/ baby. I ski on classic skis and also go telemark skiing in the woods. I can't wait to start our daughter! My family is really into winter sports (my brother snowboarding, my mom nordic, and my dad telemark, and we all snowshoe). My husband used to race both classic and skate.
Makes winter much more enjoyable!!!

I think I was 9? Hated it!
Went again 20 years later and hated it even more than I remembered.
I feel bad since DH is a pro snowboarder. :T He can teach the kids and go with them!

Never have at 27. When I was younger I just didn't have the money to splurge on a ski trip. The cost of rental, buying necessary clothes, and the slopes is too pricey. Experienced friends always invited us, and I knew it wouldn't be as fun.

I think I was 6 or 7? We lived in Chicago and I took lessons when I was pretty young... then we moved to Texas and I've skied once in the last 15 years!

I tried skiing for the first time around 6 years old I think? I tried going 2 other times later as a kid but every time ended in tears which isn't good when the snot freezes to your face, haha. Never went skiing again!

Believe it or not - I never have! I lived in a big skiing/snowboarding town growing up but we were so heavily involved in sports that my parents and coaches said it was absolutely out of the question due to injury risk and then I went to college in sunny CA where I spent more time on the beach then a mountain. I've been pregnant the last couple winters since graduating so I've had no opportunity... yet! But hopefully soon!

27 when I went downhill skiing! I have never snowboarded.
We were too poor for skiing when I was young, so I never went till I met DH. I've only been twice. It's pretty fun! But still a little expensive for us to go regularly...

At a little over 12 months my dad took me skiing in a backpack I started lessons when I was 2 or 3. I grew up in a ski town and that's just how it was done! In elementary school we were let out early on Fridays and bussed up to the resort for ski school. Season passes to the ski resorts were only $99, and one of the resorts gave you a free season pass if you could prove you were on the honor roll! It's no coincidence that several gold medalists from the Sochi Olympics hail from my hometown!
When I was in middle school one of the resorts that was skiing only started allowing snowboarding, so I switched because it was the "cool" thing to do. I've since seen the error of my ways and switched back to skiing 
I try to make it out at least onc e a weekend, though I'm afraid I'm out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury last weekend, boo!

First time skiing was in college. Then switched to snowboarding shortly after. I might try skiing again one day. We'll see. We started the kids skiing already. My son just started going down the mountain on the greens.

I was 21 and terrified. D is a great skier--he does the black diamonds or whatever. We hadn't known each other very long, but I went with him, now FIL, BIL and our oldest nephew, who had JUST turned 3....it was his first time going.
It was a bad scene. I couldn't stop imagining breaking a leg and not being able to work or worse. I never actually managed to go down by myself...D always went down with me, standing behind me, skis on either side of mine, poles held horizontally across my stomach, steering with our hips. It was awesome, but I feel bad, because he never managed to go down alone, lol.

I skied first when I was 11 and love it. I first snowboarder at 24 and broke my wrist on the bunny hill!
I'll stick to skiing.

I started skiing at 9 or 10. My sister started skiing with me and she was about 4 or 5 at the time. We both loved it, although neither of us do it anymore. I'd like to start up again.
