Cobi just hit 5 months last week, and I figured it was time for him to learn to fall asleep on his own... though I have to admit this was hard for me because I LOVE nursing him to sleep.
So today: He woke up from his first nap, I nursed him and then fed him some solids. We played for awhile until 1.5 hours had passed, then I swaddled him, drew his curtains and laid him in bed - kissing him and telling him I love him. I let him fuss and kinda cry for about 5ish minutes (if he had been really crying, I would have gotten him). I went in there, gave him his pacifier and said goodnight, walked out and he's asleep!!
I am truly so amazed. I know he still needs his pacifier, but that fact that he didn't need my boobs or my arms was so astounding to me.
This is just one nap though, so I'm not too hopeful yet. I'm sure he'll take some time to adjust and maybe a few more times before he can do it completely all the time.
What age did your LO learn to fall asleep?
