DD is 4.5 and starting to talk about Star Wars from school. She's asking to watch Star Wars. So far her screen time has been limited to Disney princesses, Goldie & Bear, and Sesame Street. Yay or nay on Star Wars? I've never been able to stay awake through it (sorry, but true). DH is a fan.

the lego star wars stuff is fine IMO. there are shorter movies on netflix so you dont have to commit to the full movie but TBH lego batman movie was hilarious to me and my 3 YO loved it! if youre concerned about violence, in the lego stuff they pretty much say "pew pew" a lot. haha!

@Ergggg: I'll check out the Legos stuff. I didn't even know about that. We've gone so far down the Disney princess rabbit hole I don't know what else is out there.

My DD sort of watched it around 4 or maybe a bit younger. Since I've watched it before I knew which parts to look out for. She barely paid attention. It was background noise for her to play with ponies and magnatiles.
She paid enough attention to know who the main characters were.

DH lets her watch Star Wars, although I would have wished he waited. She now requests it and they happily watch it together, but only the less violent episodes. I actually think it's less violent than the cartoon version (Star Wars Rebels). The cartoon version seems to be really entertaining, but I think it focuses more on the action sequences vs. a larger plot.

I remember being 4 or so and watching the Ewok movies. Although I'm not sure how easy they are to find now.

I'm a huge SW fan. I'm going to have DD wait until age 6 or so. I want her to be old enough to sort of understand the story. I started watching when I was around 7.
