It's been interesting... as everyone's kids have aged, the average age of kids covered on the blog/boards has increased as well!
It raises the question: what age range of kids do you think Hellobee should cover?

All ages. You shouldn't box yourself in. I'm very active in another community and it is so awesome to hear advice from moms with grown children. They have the best advice

I agree with @travelingnanny: that all ages should be covered. I don't know how often I will get here as my LO grows though.

I think it depends. I think it should grow as the community does. Like right now there is a "school aged kids" board and I think that will suffice. It wouldn't make sense to have a preteen or teen boards because there really aren't much of those here yet. I remember when I just started there was no Toddler board but now there is because all of us originals kids are now toddlers!

18. LOL
Seriously. As they keep growing, there are different sets of problems to encounter/tackle. Just the other day a friend of mine she is my age but she had her children early, and they are already 12 and 14. She got criticized by her friends that her children has "horrific behaviors" and she was very hurt and asked for advice. We had no advice for her because we all have babies/toddlers/young kids. I actually went search online and I don't think there is a comprehensive blog/discussion space for mothers with tweens/teens. We will be left out in the cold when our babies grow into tweens/teenagers.

I think it depends on what kind of social media will be around when our kids are older.

@irene: I was just going to say the same thing. First, I would hate for Ellie to, "age out," and second, there aren't very many great resources for older kids. I'll have to come up with more content for kids Ellie's age-- I was just thinking about doing a post about rasing a creative kid and show our arts and crafts set-up which allows Ellie to be pretty independent starting and finishing projects.

All of them eventually our kids will all get older, and a whole new set of questions/difficulties/milestones and advice will be needed.

I think all of them, I would like to stick around even after my kids get to school-aged, I have made so many friends and would like to see the kids grow. i would hate to feel "left out" or "unrelevant" after LO got to a certain age.

All ages! Parenting is a full time rest of your life gig just like marriage (well if it works out anyway). I don't think anyone is done being a mom even when their kid moves out but I'd say at least until the kid does there is no reason to deal only with small babies and children.

all ages!
it would be really cool to still be in touch with HB mamas when our LOs are teenagers

I don't know the answer! Tough one. My oldest is already 5 and I'm not planning to have more.. i wish there more moms with kids ahead of me in age because I need lots of advice there..

I hope we all can be venting to each other as our children plan their weddings!

@T.H.O.U.: And when our children come here complaining about their clash with their MIL's parenting styles, without knowing that their MILs (ie. us) are the original hellobee members....

All of them. Someone is going to have to tell me how to deal with R as a teenager.

I would probably not feel comfortable writing about LO when she is old enough to use the Internet & potentially read it, or when she is old enough to be embarrassed about it. But like someone else said, things change online so quickly, who knows what HB/social media will look like in 10+ years!

I agree on all ages. DS is young, but I like reading stuff pertinent to his current age and kids that are older so I have something to look forward to! Plus, I've watched so many babies on here grow up! Hate for them to just "fall off the planet" because they've aged out of HB!
@irene: LOL on your comment about bashing "us", the OG's of HB! Represent!

I agree with all of them. I have a 6 & 9 year old, it would be cool to have more mamas with older kids around!

I love that the boards can cover all ages, but it might make more sense for the blog to split in two, if that is even possible... one for the littles and one for school age and up (once the community ages to that point, at least) with both directing to the same boards homepage. I can't imagine following the HB blog once my kids are post-pre school age, unless the entire demographic becomes progressively older. (does that make sense? I dunno...)

I say all ages as well. It'd be interesting to read about issues parents face with older kids to see some of what we may have to look forward to. I don't really read much of the blog entries much anymore because a lot of the entries are still geared toward younger toddlers.
