I started dating when I was 16 and my parents knew about it and while they weren't happy (I should have been focused on studying), they were friends with the boy's parents so they were kinda ok about it.
I'm not sure when I'll be ok with my kids dating. A lot of my friends had "boyfriends" when we were in junior high (12-14).
I guess I'll just have to wait and see!
Will you set an age when it's ok to date?

I wasn't allowed to date until I was 16. (I was in college then). I vote never, but I know that's not possible!

Ugh. I was 19 when I went on my first date. We'll probably let our kids go on supervised dates when they're 14.

@mrbee: Yeah... got my driver's license like a month before school started. We definitely won't be skipping grades with our kids, but that's a story for a different thread!

I'll probably allow group dating earlier, and real dating in high school. I don't know though ....not looking forward to that!

DH were talking about this last night as we both had bad breakups in HS. we said casual dating in HS, but absolutely not dating freshman year of college! haha. we think that that first year should be focused on meeting new people and getting involved in your school.

I think I will allow supervised and group dates once they get to high school and solo dating once they have a drivers license.

Irrelevant. We're having a daughter, she will date when she's out of the house.

i never tested to see if there was a dating rule because i never dated until like the last month of senior year of hs. i think end of hs is a good time to start dating.

Hmmm....high school? I am sure my husband would say something like "never! ...okay when she's 40" for DD haha
