I get lots of great advice from friends and family and HB but I still had to learn first hand:
Don't stress about milestones. I worried about army crawling, crawling, walking...I know every LO hits milestones at different stages but I was always convinced that she was too behind and not on track.
Don't buy too many clothes!

I had to learn how to trust my gut when it came to caring for a newborn. There were days (there still are!) where I have NO idea what I'm doing and I just have to dive in.

To "Be the mom" and follow instincts. And to only worry about my child, not what experts say. In fact, "Be the mom," is totally my go-to personal parenting pep-talk.

To follow my instincts - I still don't know what I'm doing most of the time but trying to do my best! Also I've learnt not to buy too many clothes - but I still can't resist!

I had to learn how to juggle two babies on my own for 10-11 hours per day.
Teaching babies how to sleep...that's been my biggest parenting challenge, and while everyone can tell you how THEY did it and what worked for THEIR baby, there's no Magic Bullet.

Not worry so much. I am a worry wart and I tend to always anticipate the worst possible outcome. It's silly, because 90% of the time everything seems to work out just fine.

To not listen to people when they tell you what will work for your child or what your child should be doing by now. Just because your co-worker has two kids already, it does not make them the expert on child rearing.
Also, take a deep breath. Now, let it out. Okay, now you're ready to go see why she's screaming her head off.

Trusting my gut was the biggest thing. So much research and reading was done, most of the time trusting my gut was the best solution.
