I'm going to make sure baby #2 doesn't reject the bottle.
Also, no floor bed for baby #2. (I think).

I'm going to be less uptight. I think the experience with LO will help me.

Oh I thought of another one!
I'm going to do something cute and creative for my gender reveal! Last time I just called and texted everyone!
Oh! I also wanna take pictures with monthly stickers.. maybe.

I still plan on doing the floor bed!
Oh, the monthly stickers. Good one! Might do that with #2.

@banana: I think I'm going to do the floor bed too. Just not in the early stages!
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@artbee: No room for it in the early days. I will co-sleep with him or her for at least 2-4 weeks.
Haven't figured everything out yet!
I also can't handle the baby crawling out of bed like my LO does!

@chopsuey119: Yeah, I did the floor bed in the later stages and now we have him sleep on the bed (on the same floor mattress). We just place the floor mattress on the bed frame and he was totall cool with it. Super easy transition! So hubs and I decided we're gonna do the same thing again.
I"m gonna throw baby #2 a less extravagant dohl. I think I went a little overboard with my son and at the end, probably wasn't really worth it.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@banana: I hear ya on the dohl! I think we might have our #2's dohl at the same place. HAHA. The servers were like.. "see you for the next one!"
coconut / 8299 posts
@chopsuey119: haha! I already picked out the place for her dohl! Chinese/korean restaurant! We spent like $6k on my son's dohl (so ridiculous). I plan on spending $2k for her dohl. How sad huh? I'm gonna do a lot of DIY so hopefully it'll be cute though. I'm excited! lol
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@banana: HAHA all good! I say just take lots of good pictures so it looks comparable to your DS' dohl!
If we're still here, we'll have it at the same place and probably spend the same amount of money. If we're in CA.. it'll be at a Korean/Chinese place for sure! We'll probably end up spending more since everyone and their momma's gonna wanna come. -.-

@chopsuey119: Korean/chinese restaurants are the bomb! We found one near our house that's kind of modernish. So it's all good. Shoot, didn't even think about the extra peeps that will be there since most of my friends have kids or multiple kids now. We actually came UP after my son's dohl. 99% of our guests gave us cash and we made like $1k! lol. My husband was pretty excited about that.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@banana: DANG!! We.. didn't come up at all. HAHA. We probably would have if we had it in CA. Koreans love giving cash!

We are much more strict about sleeping. Maisie sleeps in her crib each night. We cannot do the co-sleeping thing again!

@Mrs. Jacks: why not? was it not a good experience for you??
@banana: what's a dohl?

wean off the bottle by 1, and transition to toddler bed much earlier!

@miss-spunkin: dohl is the 1st birthday celebration! huge for Koreans!

@Mrs. Jacks: Is it difficult going to her nursery every night? Prettybaby is 6 weeks and I'm trying to decide when to move her from our room in her bassinet to her crib.

I think we'll try to do things pretty similarly but I will probably be a lot more relaxed with #2!!!

Not that I even have #2 on the way but I wouldn't want to rock the baby to sleep again as much as we did. We stopped at about 4.5 months so it really wasn't that long but it would be nice not to do it at all.

@prettylizy: Her crib is in our bedroom. The master is about 300 square feet or more, so there's room for the crib at the foot of our bed.
@miss-spunkin: Co-sleeping was really great until it came time to transition to the toddler bed and she refuses to do it. We did not want to create a situation where we had two young little ones sleeping in the same bed as us every night for the next couple of years. Lala is such a light sleeper and I think we caused that by having her be so in tune with us at all times. We're trying something different this time.

@Mrs. Jacks: that's one of my biggest worries too, is weaning him from our bed. We actually wanted him to sleep in his bed from the start, but he would only sleep in our arms, so it became necessary for him to sleep with us if we wanted to get any sleep. It's been working out well. But I might try weaning early than you? Maybe before he's a year old?

@chopsuey119: gender reveal is a good one! And I know what products I like/need & what I don't like/need.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@miss-spunkin: I think 9-12 months would be the sweet spot, in hindsight... but hopefully your baby isn't as light of a sleeper as Lala! That should help alot!

There were a bunch of things I said I'd do differently, but I didn't... (cloth diapers and EC). The biggest things I did do different were: stay at home full-time, breastfeed exclusively without bottles and baby-led weaning. I also babywear her a lot more to the point where she is hardly in her stroller ever...

So far, I'm a SAHM this time around and we're trying out some new techniques with sleep. We put DS in his crib for naps at 2 weeks, and he takes a great afternoon nap there every day; we also started a sleep routine and introduced sleep clues a lot earlier, hoping to avoid some of the sleep struggles we had with DD. Ummmmm, and we'll be starting EC sooner with DS (hopefully next week!).
ETA: I forgot that we also started formula-feeding DS from the very beginning; I didn't even try breastfeeding, this time around.

We're going to work on the bottle sooner to avoid any issues when I go back to work. DD didn't want to take it for DH and it was a few stressful days for him.
I'm also going to do subtle potty training with DD2. DD1 is 3 and has zero interest but didn't really do anything to help her. I'm going to work on talking about being wet or dry sooner and encourage her to come to me if her diaper needs to be changed instead of letting her sit. More work for me but hopefully it will pay off in the end.
