Last night Charlie woke up in the middle of the night and was quite upset. So I went to calm him down... and I used an old trick: I said things I knew were wrong, so that he would correct me. Worked like a charm.
Haha, everyone feels compelled to correct someone when they are wrong... even little Charlies!
What tricks do you use to distract your LO when they are upset and/or throwing a tantrum?

I usually sing him a song that he would recognize. Like the Jeopardy theme song. Or Wheels on the Bus. Or sometimes I just say "Blueberries??" and he gets excited and then I have to pull out some dried blueberries from my diaper bag.
I guess he's not that hard to distract right now.

@mr.bee: The blueberries works every time. The songs are hit or miss. He can be throwing the worlds biggest tantrum and I will say in a super cheery voice "BLUEBERRIES??" and he looks at me confused for a bit and then start pulling on my diaper bag. He's a porker though who loves to eat.

@mr.bee: HAHAHA! They're magic blueberries. It doesn't work with any other fruit for some reason. He loves grapes too but when I say "GRAAAAAPES???" he doesn't even flinch. Maybe it's like some sort of Pavlovian response or something.

Usually stickers or a "lollipop" (fruit snack on a stick) will cheer Wagon Jr. up right away. usually if I just start repeating what he's saying and show him I'm trying to solve the problem he will start to calm down.
