i know that i'm only allowed two people in the L&D room during labor; still need to look into visitors info for the 1-2 day stay there once LO is here.

1st time moms usually stay for 48 hours. I forget visiting hours, but my SIL walked through after visitor's hours and got to our room just fine

They didn't give me any rules! they were so great. They let my hubby and mom stay overnight and my sister came at 5am and stayed until afternoon. My dad came after work. They never said anything about it

We were allowed 2 people in the room during the pushing phase when things got real. Other than that, our family was camped out in the waiting room until 2am when she was finally out and ready to meet everyone. The next day when people came up to visit us there werent really any rules. The nurse did tell me at one point if I needed a break from visitors to let her know and she'd come up with some silly medical reason for me to need rest/no visitors. Nurses can be so awesome sometimes (but I never needed that intervention, I loved visitors)

We were allowed visitors 24 hours a day but only 2 people during active labor.

The hospital I'm delivering at only allows 2 visitors at a time, period. Visiting hours are from 12-8. DH will be able to stay at all times of course. They are very strict about visitation in the mother/baby unit. You have to have a security badge to get in the unit.

we are allowed 1 additional person in the labor & delivery room in addition to DH, so i think my mom will be there. for our hospital, visiting hours are different if you have a semi-private room v. a private room. a private room, DH can stay all night, but for semi-private, he has to leave 11pm-7am. visitors i think can come 9am-9pm for semi-private and private.

@JessLC: thankfully our hospital only has private rooms in the maternity ward, one of the main reasons i chose it!

In the labor and delivery room we can have 3 people at any time. In the postpartum room we can have unlimited people 9am-9pm.

It all depends on your hospital. I think you're better off calling l&d. Are you doing a maternity ward tour?
With our hospital we're given 2 visitor passes for during l&d and only people with those passes are even allowed into the ward. The hour after delivery they call The Golden Hour and no one I mean no one is allowed in but dad. Then after that visiting hours are from 11-8. Dads are allowed and encouraged to stay overnight.

I don't remember ....but I did have a lot of people come visit at once when I was in labor. They didn't stay long, but my parents and inlaws wanted to come check in and say hi. I went into labor in the middle of the night so I'm sure they all had to get buzzed in and get a name tag.

there aren't really hours for l+d at my hospital, but postpartum has visiting hours between 10am-8pm. they also do quiet time from 1:30-3pm. technically you're not supposed to have visitors during that time, as it's allotted time for mom, dad, and baby to bond and rest, but visitors are allowed if they're quiet and stay in your room. i think every hospital is different, but as long as you have quiet, respectful visitors the nurses usually won't say anything.
ETA: my hospital also does the golden hour immediately after birth, which means only mom, dad, and baby can be in the room the entire hour after birth. mom is transferred over to pp shortly after that.

I don't know what the rules at my hospital actually were, but I had four people in the delivery room with me (DH, mom, MIL & FIL). I'm not sure what the visiting hours actually were either--our visitors all left by 9pm so we could rest. They all had to get security badges and be buzzed in by nurses.

My hospital was 2 support people during L&D, obviously no restricted hours then. Post-partum hours were 7 am to 10 pm I think. Partner could stay overnight but they asked that they not come and go between midnight and 6 am if possible.

Our hospital allowed guests anytime except a two hour window each day that was devoted to bonding. Partners were allowed 24-7 though, of course
