Also - vanilla ice cream and iced tea. If it's not Bluebell Homemade Vanilla, then I want a different flavor and I only drink fresh brewed tea. None of that stuff from a mix.

I'm a bit of a snob about travel. I just don't understand people who have no desire to learn about the world outside of their own little town/neighborhood/city.

@locavore_mama: i love pulling this one out of my butt when people say nyc water is gross. We won best tasting water and they even bottled it as a publicity stunt:

Oh, and "ethnic" food. I'm secretly a snob about people who are afraid of whole categories of ethnic foods.

@Freckles: You would cringe at the wine we have, I buy based on how pretty the label is!
I really can't think of anything. I definitely have things I prefer over others but I don't know its to the point of snobbery.
ETA: Thought of something...I hate unnecessarily unhealthy food. There is no need to use a pound of butter, mayo, oil on something that tastes amazing on its own. I love many unhealthy foods but why do you need to put a scoop of butter on my steamed veggies?

Wine, food, travel...
I also really, really love my neighbourhood and wouldn't think of living elsewhere in our city. DH and I complain when we have to drive to the suburbia for gatherings!

@DigAPony: I know so little about pop culture! I guess the only thing I'm a snob about is coffee, and I can't say it's based on deep knowledge about beans and the roasting process. I just know I like the stuff that costs more money!

Water, purses, coffee, cars, brand name food, hotels, restaurants.... I should probably stop right there!
pomegranate / 3314 posts
@DigAPony: same as all of yours, plus food and beer!
I'm also really snotty about baby names that I think are trashy, but I never share my opinion. Instead, I silently judge.

I am a snob about a lot of things. One that no one else has mentioned is flight connections. I hate them! I try to fly direct as much as possible.

Maybe a couple of things? We don't eat processed food really, and I hate fried food but I can't think of much else. I guess I'm kind of a toy snob with DS - I hate plastic toys. I try to buy him only wooden ones. I also won't buy drugstore foundation or concealer.

Not a lot, but...
-where I live (I have been super fortunate that our jobs have allowed us pretty much free reign on location)
-clothes (I don't buy designer but I don't buy anything cheap that will look awful/fall apart after a wash)
-make-up (don't really know why...the more expensive stuff just seems nicer)
-hotels (If I can't afford somewhere nice, I won't go)

This probably sounds snobby but I can't think of much! I mean, I prefer nice handbags and clothes...but I can't afford them half the time so oh well!
I guess I am snobby when it comes to phones (I've had iphones for the last 6 years) and donuts (I prefer Krispy Kreme)?

I would rather call it "brand loyalty", we are very loyal to the brands we like in lots of things.

Pens! I carry nice gel pens everywhere and buy my own pens for work. I do a fair amount of writing and hate using the standard cheap ballpoint pens that my company provides.

@ElbieKay: I don't think that's snobby! Who likes to take more time to get where you're going and lug stuff around airports? And lots of times direct is even cheaper!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@Mrs. Taco: Hahaha, i used to do that too. How else are you going to choose a wine? Honestly, my snobbery really only comes out when people talk as if they know shit, when they don't.

Shoes.
I refuse to wear shoes from Target or Payless or similar stores, and same goes for my girls.
I think high quality shoes are incredibly important!
Oh, also makeup and hair product. Since I have a stylist in the family, we're all about the Kerastase and Oribe hair products!
pomegranate / 3980 posts
Toilet paper, I will only buy Charmin ultra soft. That's it though, I'm way too poor to be picky about much.
pear / 1974 posts
Hair products. I'd say makeup but there are some seriously amazing drug store finds that are totally comparable to department store things, but I tend to buy more from high end for makeup also. But hair products - like I won't even buy the expensive shampoo/conditioner of the same brand from CVS/Walgreens etc, i will only buy them at licensed beauty stores and salons (because they manufacture them differently). That's it i think, i'm a stickler for certain brands for food but i wouldn't put myself in the snob category.

@Freckles: DH and I regularly kill ourselves laughing at a particular family member who claims to be a big wine-o and who brought "the good stuff" one night and it was a bottle of Woodbridge.

I'm worst about beer and yarn, but I'm also picky about the quality of my food (especially meat), wine, bed sheets, and pretty much anything that comes into contact with DD.

@locavore_mama: You crazy! haha Like @fancyfunction: said NYC has some of the best water in the country. When I go out of the city sometimes there's such a big difference in taste, yuck!
I am a snob about:
bagels
pizza
macaroni and cheese (will NOT eat it out of a box)
the use of a serial comma (it's a must)
two spaces after a sentence (don't do it!)
I'm pretty low-key about most things, though.
eggplant / 11287 posts
@mrsjazz: OMG, the serial comma!
The organization I worked for (just recently quit) told me I had to stop using it. I really tried to fight them on it but they said since I was ghost writing for the executive director, it was her call.
Drives me nuts!
I also hate the over-use of the word 'that.'

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Huge fan of Oribe over here! I freaked out when I saw my husband use my gel serum in his hair! i was like i buy the cheap stuff for you!!!
coconut / 8234 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: My ED doesn't like the serial comma and uses two spaces after a period and I change it every single time. She doesn't even notice.
honeydew / 7091 posts
Oh, I thought of one! I am a snob about the notepads I use at work - HAVE to be graph paper! Must be years of forced use for Engineering, but writing on lined paper drives me crazy now.
@Rocker2014: My eyes are totally tired from being at a computer all day, but I read that as 'penis' and died laughing. Then I realized it was just 'pens' and decided I need to go home. That is something to be snobby about though!!
