If you are getting one this year, what are you doing with it?
We owe my parents a little bit but the rest is going into our savings account. Nothing fun but necessary!

Don't know yet if we're getting anything back this year! If we do I'll be throwing it at debt.

I need to sell my car this year so I'm hoping with that $ and the return it can be a good chunk of downpayment for a new car.

Not sure how much we'll get back, but it'll go into the bank. We're renovating the dining room and parts of the kitchen. It can help cover some of our costs.

Buying DH a new desk chair and paying down my CC so I can buy a plane ticket to London for research this summer. The rest will go in savings.

We already received our tax refund. We paid off some student loans with it.

We're probably not getting very much back, but if we do, we'll either invest or put it in the kids' 529s.

1/3 goes to savings, 1/3 to LO's college account, and 1/3 to paying the mortgage down. We're such exciting people these days, haha.

1) Paying for our cat's dental procedure.
2) Buying a new couch. Our current couch is literally falling apart.
3) Squirreling what's left away in savings for my maternity leave.

Replenishing our savings account for what we used for my maternity leave.

Already filed, and used it to pay off a small student loan--now to tackle the larger loans!! Not very exciting but glad that it's GONE.

@avivoca: same. two unplanned emergency vet visits for our dog = $$$

@MediaNaranja: How fast did you get the refund? We're going on 2 weeks of the e-file date and still haven't received it yet. We'll save half and use the other half to pay off some bills.

We got some back already, we used it to pay off some debt and the rest was used to pad the checking account a little as it had gotten low from unforeseen bills. boring but necessary.

We need to get a new car so it going towards that. We got our federal already and left $90 in our checking for whatever.

Straight to savings, and happy about it. We are getting the smallest one ever because we changed our tax withholding last year. I don't want to give an interest-free loan to the government each year anymore, now that we are confident in our financial management skills.

Can I just cry because not only do we never get one, we have to pay them $$$$$$.

Got ours back already (5 days after we filed) and paid off my car! Woohoo to no car payment. The extra is going into savings.

I am guessing we will owe this year If we do get one, I'll put it in kids college funds.

@Kimberlybee: We did it really early. Filed on Feb. 1, had the federal refund by Feb. 8 and the state refund by Feb. 11. It felt quick to me but I'm not sure what the average is.

I don't know if we'll have a refund this year, since I sold a house and have to pay capital gains tax. But if we do, my husband and I usually split it and he saves his half and I spend mine on stuff for the house.
We have lived for 3 years without a headboard or bed (just mattresses), so I would sure love to buy one of those. We'll see.

We'll save some and use some for some baby stuff. And last month when we were on vacation staying with my parents, we took a night to go spend in a fancy hotel on the beach, had an amazing dinner and had a couples massage.

We got ours back already. We want to replace our couch, get E a big boy bed, put some towards a new car and into the kids' 529s, and the rest into savings.

If we get anything back, we will save most of it. We will use the rest to finish decorating our house.

Our's wasn't much but we'll put it toward patio furniture I think, just good timing for that.

We're putting 1k into the IRA we just started (applying to 2015 - so really we already put it in but are paying ourselves back with part of the return) and the rest will go into savings but is ear-marked to go towards a larger house project, probably a new bathroom (it won't pay for the whole thing though!).
This is the first year we've really gotten a good return, I know it'd be better to not get any but right now it sure is nice!

Same as always...paying property taxes. Just shifting the money from one government entity to another.
