I can't wait until they can do the whole morning on their own. I'm fine with a little prompting of help from me but it will be so nice when they can get their own breakfast, brush their own teeth and hair, put on their own shoes, etc.

When LO1 (kindergarten) is reading proficiently on his own because he wants to and enjoys it. LO2 being diaper free at night.

@gilmoregirl: I remember wishing spending a lot of time wishing LO could sleep and suck thumb.

I am definitely tired of wiping my kid's butt. But it is still huge progress from poopy toddler diapers, which are the second grossest thing after toddler puke.
I am also tired of battles of putting on pants in the morning.

Getting DD2 into a booster seat so I can be done helping with seat beats and the whole jacket in car seat thing will be easier.
On the whole, both kids are pretty independent now, but I can't do anything about the car seat until she is bigger.

3.5 year old - Being able to play independently for longer periods of time. Also outgrowing some of her big emotions.
3 month old - Not sure if this counts, but I can't wait until I don't have to pump and wash bottles. And sleeping through the night, of course.

LO1- reading on his own
LO2- buckling himself into the car seat
LO3- STTN!

Adding LO2 being able to replace the paci in her mouth herself!

Well she's only 7 weeks old so pretty much anything - but most of all getting herself to sleep and staying asleep!!

I can't wait for my 15 month old to be able to climb up and down stairs. Stair climbing is his favorite activity and he believes he is a grown adult who does not need assistance, and he wants to do it in a standing position not crawling up or scooting down on his bum, so I spend much of my day saving his life, or listening to him cry at the bottom of the stars because they are gated off. It will also mean I don't have to keep such a close eye on him once he's more physically capable

Almost 3yo: going to sleep on her own. We still sit w her while she's falling asleep and it takes foreverrrrrrrr
3 week old: holding her head up and her mouth getting bigger so that nursing is easier!

When they can get in the car on their own will be nice, but I'm assuming that really won't be until the end of car seats! Which at 1 and 4 is still a long way out!
Bathing themselves will be nice too.

Potty & dressing himself. He is so distracted and full on hostile these days when it's time to change him.

@gilmoregirl: heck yes to the wiping!
While we're on that topic, I'd love to transition DD2 (almost 3 and potty trained for ages) to the big potty for pooping.
I'm excited to hopefully start DD3 on solids in a week or so...as for all her other milestones, I want her to SLOW DOWN! She's not quite 5 months and is travelling around the house by rolling/inching on her tummy. SO not like her big sisters!!!

DS (3years): he can already do so much himself, I just wish he would do it without complaining! Everything is no these days. So, learn that complying immediately is best for everyone?
DS (almost 9 months) is obsessed with stairs. He can get up pretty safely, but I wouldn't put it past him to sit down and fall backwards down the stairs. I wish he'd learn to go down safely! We don't have a gate up yet and I pulled him off the stairs 5 times in one hour.

For DS (3) I'm looking forward to him being able to refill his own drink from the fridge. He's not tall enough yet to use the water dispenser because he can't see how much is in the cup. He has a knack for waiting until we're all sitting down to announce he needs more to drink.
DD is in a sweet spot at 7 months and I'm not really wishing she could do anything differently. I'm cool with a sitting but non-mobile baby for as long as it lasts.

potty.... all of the potty stuff. And if he could just wake up and play quietly and let me wake up without shouting MOMMY 100 times. But someday soon I'll miss that little voice who wants his mommy, so I try to savor it.

DD1- potty & changing herself would be a big help in the AM. Also going to sleep by herself and staying in room herself all night!
DD2- she is 2 mo so not much lol. STTN would be nice!

Aw nothing. It's going too fast already! DS (15 months) already wants to do everything himself!!
grapefruit / 4584 posts
@snowjewelz: when my eldest learned to dress herself in the AM it was such a game changer! Now my middle DD can do it too, when she wants to, and it is such a help in getting out the for with multiple kids!

3.5 yo- wiping. She can wipe after pee but usually wants me to. And I insist on helping after poop anyway. And more importantly, getting herself back to sleep if she wakes up during the night, instead of crying and calling for me and DH.
15 month old- feeding herself with utensils. She wants so badly to but can't. Then gets frustrated when she can't and mad when I try to help. Meals aren't so fun thee days.

@808love: I'd even settle for holding up his head or letting me put him down for more than 30 seconds...all in good time.
@PinkElephant: my son poops on his little potty like 90% of the time too, so it's a whole situation dumping the pop and cleaning the potty and wiping his tush and yeah. I won't miss it. But I am also with @ElbieKay: that it totally beats poop diapers.
There seem to be a lot of poop-related answers here, so we're all in good company.

DS (4.5) wiping his own bum (he hates doing it) and complying without having to be asked 100x's first.
DD (almost 2.5) using the potty. I think she's ready to start but she's refusing to sit on it.
