@Mrs. Twine: I really like Tana French. I was a little disappointed in her most recent, but i loved the earlier books I read. I'm obsessed with detective/police procedurals that take place abroad (mostly Iceland and Sweden).

@FutureMrsMcK: I just started in the garden of beasts this morning! Really enjoying it so far.

The Aviator's Wife, which is written from the perspective of Lindburgh's wife. It's really good, heartbreaking, but good.

@highwire: How was the movie? The book is soooo dry and boring so far!

@rahlyrah: Terrifying! But I thought it was really, really great. Those are my favorite kinds of stories, though. Not sure what you are into

Re-reading the Great Gatsby. I like it so much better than I did in high school!

@highwire: I usually like those kind of stories, too. The book is written in a series of letters from the mom to her ex husband. I am not a fan of the writing style the author uses and the fact that it is written in difficult language for the sake of using big words (unnecessary, in my opinion). I'm hoping it gets better when the mom stops talking about herself and it gets more into the psyche of Kevin and his crime.

Just got Khaled Hosseini's new book 'And The Mountains Echoed'. I seriously can not wait to start it, his first book The Kite Runner is one of my fave books.

@Ree723: I've read a bunch of Edward Rutherfurd, but not Sarum. I loved the Princes of Ireland series/trilogy. If you haven't read them, and like historical fiction, I recommend those!

@rahlyrah: I am abouthalf way through it and its starting to get a little better. Still doesn't have me not wanting to put it down yet though. I also agree about the unnecessary vocabulary. My husband saw one page and was like wtf?!

@Bao, @rahlyrah: For what it's worth, if you read any interviews with Lionel Shriver (author of "We Need to Talk about Kevin") she's a pretty intense lady, so I don't get the feeling that her vocabulary is forced. I think she's just really, incredibly bright. No doubt, though, her work is polarizing.

I'm reading "Seating Arrangements" by Maggie Shipstead, which is a nice, light read. I hope my book club likes it since it's my selection!
