I'm finally reading Gone Girl. I'm about halfway through and think it is REALLY good, but I'm nervous to finish it, since so many people have said they hated the ending.

@Mrs. High Heels: Gahhh! I'm fine with books that don't have a happy ending, but I hate books that don't seem like they have an ending at all, so...I'm hoping it's not that...

@Mrs. High Heels: I'm jealous!!! The GOT books ruined me for other books. I haven't found anything that I've been able to get that attached to since I finished reading them 2 years ago

@Running Elley: that's how I felt after reading the hunger games! then i found game of thrones, and i'll be sad once i finish this book because i know nothing out there will compare!

I'm reading a novel called The Book of Dead Birds, it's about a young woman who is the daughter of a black GI and a Korean woman. She's raised by her mom in Cali. Her mom is haunted by her past, she was a prostitute on the army base, met a white GI who brought her to Cali but left her when the baby turned out to be black. The dead birds in the title come from the fact that the mom loves birds and the daughter always manages to kill them.

@mrsjazz: I'm just so nervous it's going to just...end. Like, cliff-hanger, but with no promise of ever finding out what happens. I get so frustrated with movies and books like that, so DH has already told me he doesn't want to hear my ranting if that's what happens, hahaha.

@IRunForFun: in really didn't hate it! I think I heard a lot of hype about how awful it was, so compared to that, I was expecting much worse. I thought it was okay.

@Running Elley: Have you read the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan? It's not QUITE as crazy as GoT and has more fantasty elements, but it's REALLY good! Plus it's 14 books, so you won't need something new for a while!

Magazines: Redbook...it's so old lady, but it's got a lot of useful tips and it is a quick read.
Book: Far from the Tree. Highly recommend to every parent on the planet.

@Running Elley: agreed, after finishing GOT I've had a hard time getting into other books! I may re-read them soon since its been a while!
@IRunForFun: I didn't HATE the end, it was OK but the entire book was so good I almost didn't mind. Her other books are also great!
@MrsH: how was the second of that series? I read the first but wasn't sure if I wanted to continue.
I just started reading The Goldfinch by Tartt and its great so far (only about 90 pages in)
