Best cake ever, but it's super super decadent. But I typically don't do her chocolate frosting. I like to use a ganache frosting and put raspberry jam between the layers. I took it to a Xmas Eve dinner one time that turned into a drunken Eve dinner and I had several drunk men make inappropriate comments about how that cake would be a reason they would marry me.

But my favorite quick dessert is this puff pastry apple tart:

But I typically don't use a whole cup of brown sugar in it!! I would say maybe 1/4-1/3 cup sprinkled on top of the apples. I've also done that tart with regular pie crust and I love it. But there's something so fancy about puff pastry that makes things look so beautiful.
