Ok, so this is random, but I'm looking for a REALLY GOOD vacuum. Our current home is pretty much all wood floors and tile, so our crappy vacuum has worked fine for area rugs. But, it has stopped being "fine." AND in a month we are moving to a house over half carpet, so we need a great vacuum!

It's been so long since I've lived somewhere where there's a lot of carpet, so I don't even know what my requirements are really. The most important thing is that it's really effective at sucking the dirtiness off the floor. Lightweight would be nice because we will be lugging it around through the whole house. And easy maintenance too if possible. Our current vaccuum is bagless, which I thought would be nice, but you still have to replace filters (which I'm sure is standard, but if you have to get filters, why not also buy bags?), and we had to hand wash other filters from time to time, which was annoying.

So, a really effective, lightweight and low maintenance vacuum! What is your favorite?
