@GrapeCrush: I was just going to say this! He's just started really having preferences for books, and he loves having daddy read him this at bedtime, then he holds it like a lovey when I nurse him!

@locavore_mama: We just checked out that big sister book at the library yesterday!
DD's classic fave is Ten Little Fingers & Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox. Her current go-to is a lift-the-flap called Playtime Peekaboo.

@rattles: she looves that book! We read it a few times a day and she'll point at my belly and go "baby seester!"

Anything train-related. Tonight we read The Little Engine that Could, Chugga Chugga Choo Choo, Go Train Go and a Thomas lift-the-flap book. I never thought I would miss the 24/7 Elmo books, but I could use a break from trains!

@Radish: ours too! She picked it up at the library and we have read it 20x since Sunday. I don't get why she loves it, but she does!

She really likes this book that's just full of first words/pictures, little people lift the flap books and a few others I'm too tired to recall right now.

@locavore_mama: So cute! D is uninterested in the whole baby thing so far, but I'm hopeful as the pregnancy progresses and she gets older she'll get more into it.
@dolphin: I'm secretly hoping you are soon

@locavore_mama: haha we got DD1 the big sister book and now she runs around saying "can little babies eat ice cream? NOOOO! E eats ice cream! I'm a big girl! I'm a big sister!"

We are reading "I'm a Big Sister" several times a day on request. My 22 month old's favorite part is when the baby cries and needs a diaper change. She likes to fake cry then chime in "PU, baby!"
Other big hits are Going on a Bear Hunt, Doggy Kisses 1-2-3, and The Eensy Weensy Spider (I think this one is out of print - it has about 10 extra verses to the nursery rhyme). I recently had to make "Easter Suprise", which is a slide book where you have to open the eggs to find animals. Cute concept but the words were getting mind-numbingly dumb after reading it over and over!

@Mrs. Pen: my LO is big on Chicka Chicka Boom Boom too! I'm a fan so I might be influencing her.
She also likes Ferdinand the Bull. We hadn't read Where the Wild Things Are in quite some time but she's been pulling it out lately. She's almost 19 months.

So you all have kids that sit through more than 2 pages of a book? I can get her to read a whole book if it has Minnie or Elmo on it...but anything else it's a couple pages and she grabs another or runs away. She does like The Birthday Monsters by Sondra B. if I read it in my silly voice
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
DD is obsessed with the "If you give a Mouse a cookie" series. Her favorite is If you give a Cat a cupcake!
