I bought a massive box of breast pads and have used probably 4, I just don't tend to leak. I also have 7 different diaper creams and DS has yet to have diaper rash. Oh and the binkies...so many unneeded binkies...

Swaddles! Not the A&A blankets but the Velcro "cheating" swaddles. LO does not like to be contained.

ditto breast pads...I have maybe used 3 total?
However, I ruined a couple tank tops with lanolin - so I will try to use the pads more this time if I need lanolin!

Agree - breast pads and diaper cream! Also had way more receiving blankets than we ever used since we preferred Swaddle Me.

Breast pads. I do leak, but I hated the disposables and ended up getting reusable ones. Bottles. They ended up using the Medela ones I pumped into most of the time, and even after two kids, I still have unopened Avent bottles because we just didn't use as many as I received.
nectarine / 2148 posts
Definitely breast pads. Also, baby lotion. Binkies were gifted and LO prefers a certain kind so we don't use half of them. We got a lot of blankets too that we don't use all of them, but I've found recycled uses for them.

I didn't really stock pile much, but I received tons of duplicate presents! Way too much diaper cream (esp since we use cloth and they knew that!), lotion and shampoo ( almost two years later I still have a stockpile after giving some away), and disposable breast pads (turns out I could only use cloth). Oh and baby blankets!

Ditto on nursing pads. I only used maybe a handful the first week of pumping because my nipples felt so raw. I never used them for leakage since I didn't leak except for after showers.
We were gifted a bunch of pacifiers, but I didn't open them so when I learned DS didn't take to one, I returned them all.

Pacifiers with the first, and this time it's been the swaddleme blankets. He likes to be swaddled but hates the swaddlemes with a passion.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
I used some nursing pads but not the three boxes I got as a "deal" from target.
Pacifiers but they were gifts.
Socks, we seemed to have hundreds of baby socks.
Diaper cream - we just used coconut oil as prevention
Gas Drops - Never needed them.

Baby lotion (DS has ezcema and most irritated his skin) and baby soap (takes forever to go through it). I had a ton of breast pads but I liked using those even though I never leaked (I don't wash my bra everyday so I felt it was cleaner, plus they hide hard nipples which I had ALL the time).

Geez I'm the odd man out! I go through 4-6 breast pads a day . And I soak the reusable ones in 15 minutes :(. For us, luckily we only got 2 Swaddlers blankets, which she hates! We stocked up on huggies diapers and wipes, and hate them on so many levels. I use the packs that are open for diaper cakes now! And bottles!!!! We went through 12 different bottles before finding she will only take munchkin latch. At least we found one she likes..finally!

Wraps...I wanted to try baby wearing with dd2 so I got a Nuroo pocket and a moby. She hates both with a fiery passion
persimmon / 1322 posts
@dc yoga bee: Me too apparently, I go through a minimum of 4 a day. That was the one thing I had to buy more of right away.
I overstocked on Velcro swaddled, my kid wants her hands by her face at all times. We use cloth diapers and I bought disposables as a back up, but bought more than we need.
pomelo / 5573 posts
A&A swaddle blankets - I heard so much talk about how great they were that I bought 12! 8 of the bamboo ones because they were so soft, but I found them basically useless for swaddling because they have so much stretch, and then 4 regular ones but we were total swaddle failures anyway and switched to swaddle sacks after about 3 weeks. I use them for other things but I could have done with one 4 pack and not 3. Also 0-3 month clothes - my January baby spent the first 3 months of his life in fleece sleepers.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Swaddles! I bought so many different kinds in different sizes. In the end I used 2 hand me down velcro ones, then moved onto magic merlin sleep suit.
Also all these sheet savers/changing pad liner things. We put a wee wee pad on top of her changing pad, and she has never ever leaked anywhere...

Yes to breast pads. I used so many while nursing DS1 but don't seem to leak this time around.

@simplyfelicity: @Mrs D: @sapphire: @rattles: @Eko: @Alivoo01: I still live in breast pads here at 20 months.
Blankets so many blankets....
honeydew / 7283 posts
baby socks definitely. I use sleep & plays (footed) pretty much exclusively for the first 6 months (no shame!) and after that there's no way a baby is keeping a sock on.
Blankets too. We've always used the velcro swaddles and not had much use for the others.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I am surprised! I used my breast pads! I didn't leak too much but I hated leaking into my bra/shirt and sheets at night!
But next time I want the reusable ones as well.
nectarine / 2148 posts
@MrsRcCar: I stopped breastfeeding at 2 months and never leaked before then. So, I really had an oversupply of breastfeeding items. I've started to try to find uses for some of the many blankets we were gifted. Recently I turned one into a car seat cover.

Pacifiers. When I couldnt get LO settled the first couple days home, I went out and bought a couple. The some more because the ones I originally bought didnt stay in her mouth. Then some more because the 2nd set I bought were too big. Then some more people had recommendations. Then I finally quit buying them.

@T.H.O.U.: This made me laugh. I have this same fear about baby socks so we have - literally - 3 pairs. (DS is due in 3 weeks).

Me too on the breast pads. Never leaked once. Also wraps and carriers since he wouldn't be worn.
nectarine / 2086 posts
Agree about breast pads - I've never leaked! And we have a tonnnn of blankets but they're so pretty! I've also bought like 4 different kinds of pacifiers but she hates them all. I also bought a whole set of small gDiapers that we freaking hate. I switched to Flip. Hopefully I can sell them!

Funny- I used breast pads every day for months and months!
Ended up returning some postpartum supplies that I never ended up needing (witch hazel). And too many bottles. I EBF and stayed home with her, so we just didn't do bottles that often. I had a few different types but we ended up being happy with one 3-pack that I got as a gift.

So, so many bibs, I rarely needed them. I was happy to send them off to my SIL.
Breast pads- I used them for only the first month, after that they just sat around. Luckily I was able to find an awesome mama on here who could use them. I was thrilled to send them to someone who needed them!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
Ditto on breast pads! I never leaked. I used them when my nipples were sore and raw at first as extra cushioning but never used more than a tiny fraction of my stock.
Also cloth bibs-- LO wasn't a big spitter/slobberer

Binkies (DS never really took one) & newborn hats (he has a huge head so the one we bought to wear home from the hospital...didn't fit...and most of the others didn't either). Breast pads, however, I wore until I weaned!
cantaloupe / 6634 posts
@wrkbrk: Bamboobies are awesome!! Super soft, gentle on the the nips (think velvet). They are the only ones I use...plus machine washable is pretty great
pomegranate / 3003 posts
Velcro Swaddle Me's and Sleep Sacks. I'll maintain she rolled her eyes on Day # 2, and then proceeded to bust the hell out of one. Never again.
honeydew / 7303 posts
Man! Can everyone send me all their extra breast pads!? I leak like a maniac. I HATE it!
I stocked up on newborn diapers and used like 5 of them. I also bought 6000 different pacifiers, but this was after he was born and I was trying desperately to find one he liked!
apricot / 358 posts
Oh man, we ended up having to buy a lot more burp cloths and bibs because we had a super spitter!
But baby blankets... We had like 100 more than we needed!
