I am planning to start temping soon, and need recommendations for a good thermometer to buy from Amazon.
Thanks in advance!

I have the nexcare but it beeps constantly until it gives you a reading. For me, it's not a big deal because DH can sleep through anything so it doesn't bother him and it lets me know it's still working when I'm half asleep. It also lights up and saves your last temp so if I happen to forget it when I'm up for the day I can double check it.

I do want one that keeps the temps, but I am worried about beeping waking up DH.

I have the nexcare one too, I just put my head under the covers when taking my temp in the mornings. I don't remember it ever waking DH up. I used it for 2 years and replaced the battery once. It seemed like a pretty good thermometer to me!

I use this one http://www.drugstore.com/veridian-healthcare-60-second-digital-basal-thermometer/qxp244414?catid=184097
I had the nexcare one, and the constant beeping bothered me. I'm often trying to go back to sleep after I take my temp.
If you use an FSA, it's an eligible expense.

If you have a CVS near you, I *highly* recommend the CVS brand BBT,

@Crystal: I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/B-D-524560-Digital-Basal-Thermometer/dp/B0000533AY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394571754&sr=8-2&keywords=bbt+thermometer
Works great. The beeping isn't very loud.

I've also used the nexcare and the CVS brand ones (I lose things easily!)
I don't love any one over the other. But I did learn the hard way to not switch between brands if you can help it. Not all thermometers will read the same so if you travel and forget to bring one with you and have to pick up a new one, you could end up with oddly high or low temps.

@septca: I must have had a bad one from CVS...mine wouldn't keep temps in memory, and would flash the same temp in memory day after day for me which sucked:-(.
@crystal: I then got this one from amazon which is silent. Not the most high-tech one (and it doesn't light up), but keeps hubby happy and worked for us! I would take my temp, use a tablet/flashlight to read it when it was done (about a minute), and then roll over and go back to sleep. The reviews say the memory function is spotty and that's true, but since I read it and recorded right away it didn't bother me. Good luck!

@LindsayInNY: @septca: I grabbed a thermometer from CVS, but I wonder if its the wrong one? My temps have been very level and consistent, as in, not moving at all.

Maybe try taking your temperature in the evening to see if it registers a higher number (it should be a few degrees higher by then)

@MaryM: Its higher even 20 mins later, but it seems wrong that I am literally the same temp every morning?

@Crystal: I think it was with all the family planning stuff? Does it measure XX . XX temperatures?

It's been exactly the same for a whole week? That does seem odd.
I've used the same one Lindsay posted. They're next to the pregnancy tests and what not.
