I've got about 15 onesies in each size (short and long sleeved), and I know I need to get sleepers, hats, socks, and a few actual "outfits".
How much do I need of each thing in each size?

People will buy you things and it's hard to know how fast or slow your baby will grow, which might affect what season you are buying for. I'd say as long as you are covered in the 0-3 month clothes, you can hold off and decide how much and what you like as time goes on.

@cvbee: I figure people won't buy us that much clothing since we're team green as far as everyone knows. (We're fake team green, NO ONE knows that we decided to find out the gender... I'm hoping this means we'll get more registry gear we need and less pink and blue stuff... )
So I just want to make sure I have the basics. How many sleepers do you think we should have in each size?

I say eh on the 'outfits'. I didn't do any of that for months, personally. Depending on when you deliver, I'd just stock up on footed sleepers and onesies and call it good. Hats and a winter warmth thing if it'll be cold. Besides that, everything else is kind of bonus.

For winter babies, footednsleepers and long gowns are very useful. For summer babies, onesies. Also cotton hats and swaddle blankets are key no matter what.

We have about 5-6 sleepers we use in regular rotation (size NB, LO is 3 weeks). I have another 5 but we just don't use them (hand me down from a friend and they're footless).
I actually did go out and buy a 4-pack onesies from Carter's and some stretchy pants in nb size because I didn't want to bring her out in pajamas. We go out almost every day for fresh air and to get out of the house.
Socks..I cycle through the same 3 pairs because the little ones don't stay on her. I put old navy 0-6 on (huge) and they stay on because they look like knee socks.
I have a million hats but only use about 3-4 in rotation. Cotton caps.

I loved putting LO in mitten cuff sleepers because she would scratch her face and mittens would come off her hands too easily.
The first few weeks I was terrified of putting anything over her head because she was so wobbly.

I love the zippered style sleepers vs buttons/snaps. Wayyyy easier to deal with. We have about 6-7 I think.

@Arden: AHH omg that's AWESOME!! I love it and I'm totally curious and want to know :):):) hahaha!!!
I would say mostly sleepers in NB/0-3 mos, with just 1-3 outfits in NB size. You are pretty small, so I would *guess* that your baby will be small. My son was in NB for 10 weeks, and 0-3 months for about 4 months. I was a little disappointed I didn't have more in those sizes. However, he's been in 3-6 months for about 6 months and just grew into 6 months (he is 8 months old). He's a little on the small side, but more "average" now.
This would be my minimal list - given that you could
NB: 5-8 sleepers - they go through these quickly! I did laundry every day, 1-2 outfits
0-3: 5 layering onesies, 5 sleepers, 5 pants, 5 tops/bodysuits
3-6: 5 sleepers, more outfits than previous sizes: 5-10 pants, 5-10 tops
6-9/9-12: same as above
Once at 12 months they will be in that size for up to a year, so you may need more items.

I think 15 in each size sounds like plenty! Unless it's hard for you to do laundry constantly. I'd just stock up on maybe 1 weeks worth of some footed sleepers from Carters (they're always on sale!) in the first couple of sizes and go from there.
I asked a question about socks recently (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/so-how-many-socks-for-baby) and it seems all over the place. My guess is also a week's worth?

I think youve got enough onesies for sure. you may want to add 5 or so pairs of pants to your list. Our guy is 3 weeks & he goes through like 3 sleepers a night! He constantly wets through his diapers, no matter what we do. Luckily for us we dont have to do laundry too much because we've got A LOT of clothes, but they were all gifts/hand me downs.
We do sleepers & swaddle at night and then a onesie/pants combo during the day. We don't have any real "outfits" (I think just one?) and he almost never wears a hat. As for socks, we've got maybe 6-8 pairs & never run out. DH tucks the pants into the socks & they never fall off (even though DS looks funny).

I think socks you can get by with a minimal amount because it's not like they're shoving their little baby feet into sweaty gym shoes. They're babies, so unless they poo or per on their socks, I think you can get by with a couple days per pair. I personally love the ones from Hanna Anderson- they stay on the best. I just cuff them so they stay up.

I had about 10 long sleeved footed pjs in size nb. That was plenty even with the frequent spit ups and blowouts. She spent most of her first month in the footed pjs. I found that having a couple short sleeved onesies, 3 pairs of pants, and a couple jackets were enough for us. We had tons of hats, socks and mittens but didn't end up using them.
We kept it similar for size 0-3 but added a couple more pants so she could wear them with long or short sleeved onesies. She had a couple dresses too but mostly wore onesie + pants when we took her out.
