I don't wear nail polish since I saw chips of paint on my LO's face. and she's always grabbing my fingers and putting them in her mouth.
But I just painted my toes with Opi Red Pearl!

My nails are currently bare which I hate. My mani/pedi was chipping badly so I just removed it. With a newborn, I haven't made the time to get them done yet but hopefully SOON!!! I usually have OPI Sweetheart on my nails and some sort of red on my toes.

I still have a tiny bit of purple on my toes from my sisters wedding in August. No nail polish.

fingernails bare - too much upkeep because i like to nibble on my nails. lol....my toes are typically any shades of red (darker the better)....

My finger nails have nothing, but my toes have been painted Revlon Black with Envy since the new year.

My nails are all bare right now but I plan on getting my piggies painted before our trip next month.

Right now they are totally bare. But I frequently have gold/nude fingernails and dark purple toes.

My nails just have a clear coat on them right now. My toes are chipped pink with silver sparkles. I need to do them, but I can't really see them anyways, and reaching them is questionable!

I haven't had my nails done since September and I hate it. Before I got pregnant I would have a different color every week now the smell of nail polish gives me a headache so I don't bother.

@Rubies: I know .... I need to buy more nail Polish. I want something sparkly!

Bare, but because I had one of those UV gels manis and it really did a number on my nails, so I had to cut them very short.

@looch: uh oh...what happened?? i thought those were supposed to be "safe" for your nails...

Clear polish on my nails that helps them grow & OPI You Don't Know Jacques which is a gray color on my toes. I usually wear reds, pinks or purples on my toes so gray is pretty "out there" for me but I really have been liking it

@ustechie: they're really soft and splitting across the tops. The jury is still out for me on these kinds of manicures.

My nails just have a clear coat right now (I bake for a living, so nailpolish in dough is a no-no), but I'm painting them grey tonight because I have a day or two off. My toes are silver, leftover from our vacation two weeks ago.
I used to come home with a new nail polish every time I went to the drugstore, but I've reined in the collecting a little.

My nails are bare right now (it is against the rules for nurses/doctors to wear nail polish/fake nails at the hospital I work at). My toenails have a light sparkly purple colour on them.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@looch: @ustechie: the same happened to my nails after a few UV gel manicures. now i am trying to repair my nails. they are so weak, keep breaking, and my left thumb nail keeps splitting down the middle. do not get them!! my nails were super strong before i started to get them.

@Andrea: @looch: @ustechie: I was so excited about shellac/gel manis last summer, but I tried it once and I'm not a fan either. Yes, they don't chip as easy and that's nice for a week or so... But taking it off is an annoying hassle and my usually strong and healthy nails were left weak and brittle. Boo!
I'm wearing aqua with a dainty gold design on my fingers right now which is pretty odd for me but I love it. I usually do "barely there"/sheer pink colors or something dark like OPI Wicked. But my friend is all into nail blogs and we had some girlfriend time earlier so I went out on a limb and got the aqua/gold thing going on. On my toes are OPI "Oh to be 25 Again" (dark red/wine color).

@NYCaliMama: you @chopsuey119'd me so I was looking forward to seeing a comment! HAHAHA. *sadface!

@chopsuey119: oh yes I'm on my iPhone...but I couldnt see your @name at first! Then it came up at the bottom of the box after I posted. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that I came on HB to specifically start this thread (bc I got my nails done finally), but you beat me to it! Amazing!

@NYCaliMama: i thought they were amazing at first. my nails looked great for 2-2.5 weeks. i thought i had found the holy grail for a while. lol. have your nails recovered from last summer?
grapefruit / 4049 posts
@Andrea: yes they recovered within a month or two I'd say! I think maybe I'd do it again if there comes a time where I was attending a lot of weddings or special events... Maybe. Btw, how did you remove the gel mani? Do you go in and have it removed or do it yourself? I did it myself wondering if it were better to have a pro remove them?
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@NYCaliMama: ok great. it has been about a month since i got my last one and i have been putting some nail strengthener on them. they still haven't recovered yet but i hope soon! i never tried to remove it myself. i always went back to the nail salon. how did you remove it at home?
grapefruit / 4049 posts
@Andrea: the lady told me to soak cotton balls in acetone then apply on nails and wrap with foil, then wait. It didn't work out too well and I ended up peeling some of the polish off. It was the morning of our newborn photo shoot... Augh! I was so annoyed!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@NYCaliMama: oh no! That is what they do at the nail salon so I am not sure why it did not work at home.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Andrea: @NYCaliMama: I am also not so sure about the long term exposure to the harmful UV rays. I am ok with a mani for a vacation, for example, but for regular visits, I'll get the traditional polish.
I was surprised at how wrecked my nails got after just one manicure.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@looch: good point about the UV. i did always put sunscreen on my hands before i went but i was still a little worried.

My finger nails are bare and my toes are in terrible need of a pedicure with very chipped red paint leftover from a December pedi.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
They are both bare right now. I'm giving my fingernails a break from all the constant painting. My toes are bare because it's winter and Im being lazy.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
My fingernails are always bare because I get annoyed at how quick the polish chips. My toes are in need of another pedi, but they currently are painted with OPI Lincoln Park After Dark.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
I almost never have nail polish on my fingernails because my nails grow way too fast. I have to cut them like once a week!
As for my toes, I used to get french pedicures all the time but now I like to get a different color every time I get a pedicure. I'll go from a dark mauve to a pearly purple to blood deep red to sparkly taupe... choosing the color is one of my favorite parts of a pedicure!! The only color I don't do is bright bright red.... I don't know why.
I just removed a dark magenta and the next time I go, I think I'll chose a silvery pink.
