Uh...a shirt and pants? I feel like you may be overthinking this one. Unless I'm missing something here.

The main reason I used onesies is because I didn't like my son's back to be exposed when he was crawling around...once he was walking, I did use tee shirts under a few items of clothing, but for either extra warmth on super cold days or because of appliques on the shirt.

Now, we don't use them at all.

Just a shirt and pants.

Wow, your daycare potty trains really early!! Mine doesn't start until after 2!

We don't usually do undershirts - just one layer of shirt. Unless it was really cold maybe, but Xander tends to run warm.

@wonderstruck: I think it's pretty common actually. My husbands ex, to this day, sends the boys (who are 7 & 10) undershirts. I don't get it, but she does!

We are at 1.5 years and I just do a shirt and pants. The only reason I can see for undershirts is cold weather. When we have cold weather, I do dress him in layers. Never been a fan of "undershirts" though.

I think, in the end, it's all a personal preference with your kid, ya know? Do you like the idea of undershirts? yes? do it. No? don't do it. There is no right or wrong here.

LO wears an undershirt every day. We like petit bateau camis or long sleeve shirts, depending on outfit/weather.

@littlejoy: I didn't think about just sitting, but yeah I wouldnt worry about it. I have never put an undershirt on my LO, or onesie under a shirt when she was a baby,

No onesies is SO much easier for diaper changes!

Once she walked onesies were gone (I find them a big pain in the butt.) however, I do wear a tank top everyday so I guess I'm still for an undershirt She hates layers, so a shirt and pants is all she's going to allow me to put on her!

For some reason, I still try to put a t-shirt underneath DS long sleeved shirts unless it's really warm out. I like to dress in layers so I guess I just assume he should too!

@littlejoy: I still use onesies at 17 months and he's walking but He still likes to be held, I don't like the exposed belly skin when someone picks him up....maybe I'm odd. But for your daycare, I'd probably not send an undershirt, I don't get the point I guess.

I understand, I'm also a big onesie fan and am sad DS is about to grow out of his 24 month onesies! We use undershirts for preschool (I think we just got the pack of Hanes undershirts), where they prefer not to have onesies even for non-toilet-trained toddlers, so they can do the diaper changes more quickly. It's nice to have an extra layer, especially with the winter as cold as it has been this year.
