Tonight is turning out to be just as bad as the first night (maybe worse) :(:( It's night 3. And I'm having a REALLY hard time. BUT I know if I nurse him to sleep (like I accidentally did last night), he won't STAY asleep...
I'm so sad :(:(
I feel SOOO awful right now. He is thrashing in his crib. He did a complete 180 and is facing the other direction... idk what to do :(:(

Awww you poor thing!!! It does get better!
She only cried the first night. I sat in her room that first night and talked to her to let her know I was there. And whenever she got super upset like your son, I would pick her up until she calmed down and then put her back down. Eventually I got her to take her pacified without me holding her and she would immediately calm down.

It took a long time for LO to not cry at all (I think it had to do with her being a colicky baby) but each day she cried less and less and the intensity of her crying diminished. *HUGS*

Its always so tempting to nurse them t sleep because it's so easy! Just keep at it and it'll get better! They will learn!

@BabyBoecksMom: I finally gave into my gut. He totally just needed me and I started feeling sick about it. I went in and nursed him, but not to sleep, just for two minutes. When I laid him back down, he was calm. He rolled around for a few minutes and finally dozed off.
This night was way worse than the first night :(:(
@enjollah: Oh I know... but for the past two months I've been nursing him to sleep, and he will only stay asleep for 1 hour, then be up until midnight. So that's why we had to start sleep training, even though I hate it and didn't want to do it. He did great the first and second night. Tonight was the worst

@cocobee: perhaps you just need to nurse for a little but not until he's asleep before putting down. Worth a try. It took about a week of CIO for naps before she stopped crying; nighttime was never an issue for DD.

My LO has always gone to bed really easily but we still have nights every so often where he cries at bedtime. I don't think the crying ever stops completely with all of the development babies go through in the first few years.
When sleep training, there is often a regression after 5-8 days...it's like their final protest...but then it's supposed to get better again.

often babies have a regression the 3rd or 4th night of sleep training. typically most babies are sleep trained by the end of the week.
charlie went down at night without crying the second night, but he woke up in the middle of the night through night 4 i think.
after that, his sleep was pretty glorious all the way to 13 months (from 4 1/2 months). it will be worth it i promise!
