Grandma and Grandpa!

@JustlikeHeaven: haha I am the same as you, I don't call them anything! When talking to DH I also say "your mom" or "your dad."

I call them what my DH calls them i.e. mom and dad. With friends, I refer to them as my in-laws or if they are really close friends, I will say DH's mom/dad. With DH, it's your mom/dad.

I still call them Mr. and Mrs. Lastname.

I call them by their first names as well.

We've been together almost 6 years and until recently, I've avoided calling them anything! We're really close though so I call his mom "other mother" (started as a joke when we first started dating and it stuck) and I usually call his dad "dad."

My mil said I could call her mom or by her first name. I call her by her first name. My husband and his dad aren't close at all so I've only met my fil twice (once at the wedding). If I see him again I would call him Mr. First name.

call them MIL and FIL in korean - uh-muh-nim and ah-buh-nim.

During our wedding reception MIL came up to me and said "ok, start calling me mom now!" Sorry lady - hold your horses. I'm not comfortable with that because it's always just been my mom and me and that title is quite special to me due to that. I probably wouldn't mind calling FIL "dad" because that title holds no real meaning to me - but I don't because it would obviously be rude to call one the title and not the other. So, long story short, I call them by their first names - if I have to use their names.
DH calls my mom "mom." This was slightly weird for me at first - but I realized that it's just what he feels comfortable doing, so more power to him I guess.

MIL I call "mom" because once we got married she started calling herself that to me (ie. on voice mail, "joy, this is mom"). FIL still says "this is DH's dad", so I don't call him anything. If he say's he's "DH's dad" then he'll just be "DH's dad."

DH calls my parents mom and pa, just like I do. This is what my parents and all the adults in my family have done, so I didn't realize it wasn't common/the norm. Four years in it still feels weird to say/hear, honestly, but I see it as respecting our parents. Except FIL, but he's another story...

No one uses last names here, they think it's too formal so everyone's on a first name basis. But I'm Asian and I'm not used to calling elders by their first names (I'd normally call them auntie or uncle). But that's just not how it's done here so I call them by their first names. They also refer to each other by their first names and at times, and BIL sometimes calls his Mom by her first name (which I find weird because he normally calls her mamma).

My Mom wants hubby to call her Mom. He thinks it's sweet, and so do I.

When our LO arrives they'll be called "farmor" and "farfar" exclusively (father's mother and father's father).

I use the ol' ignore that they have names tactic. If I have to call them something, it's Mr. and Mrs.

I sometimes call my MIL uh-muh-nim, but I love the fact that I can switch it to hal-muh-nee now. (Mother in law and Grandma in korean.) I just don't feel comfortable calling her any form of mother.

She calls me her daughter. She used to buy me cards addressed to "Daughter-in-law" and would cross out the "in-law" part and write "you're my real daughter!" And now she buys me cards addressed to "Daughter" and writes about how I'm not just LIKE her real daughter, I AM her real daughter.

That annoyed me for a while (I already have a mother and she's quite enough for me!) but now I just ignore it.

We're not close with my FIL so I haven't had to worry about that part of it for a while... a few years?
