@hergreenapples: I think my grandmother calls it a soother (I don't see her very often, she's a few hours drive from here). I hadn't heard it until she commented on it her last visit.

Pacifier, soother or sooz. We call it sooz because that's what our niece calls her pacifier. On the Internet I always use paci but I never say it out loud!
