For me I would consider 5+ children a large family. 4 children and under I feel like would be average.
I'm sure it depends on where you live though! I'm in the midwest.

Four children or more.
ETA I think to me personally a family seems large as soon as the children outnumber the parents, but I think many people would disagree that 3 is a "large family" so objectively I'll say it's 4 or more.

Three borders on large, four or more is definitely large!
ETA: I'm in NYC, so I think it's three for the city, four for the suburbs.

Ha around here 4 is pretty unheard of. I don't know anyone that aspires to have that many kids. Even 3 sounds big-ish to me. Two is the average in my circle.

I grew up as 1 of 3 kids which seemed average then, but 2 kids, now that I'm a parent, feels average. But to be honest, I still wouldn't consider it a "large" family until 4+.

I voted 5! We have friends that have 4 kids, though it's double mine, I don't think it's THAT big.

I went with 4, if your vehicle has to have a 3rd row, you have a large family hahahaha

4+. I know a lot of people with 3 kids but not as many 4 and up.

I grew up in a community similar to the Duggar's. Because of that, a family doesn't seem really large until six or so kids because the majority of my friends growing up were in families with 7-10 kids. I have three now and it still seems relatively small.

For me, 2 seems average, 3 seems borderline, and 4 seems large. I'm in the Pacific Northwest. A lot of people around here seem to think 3 is a lot.

3 is bigger than average but 4 seems like a whole lot! I voted for 4.

More than 3 kids. We have 3 and I don't think we have a big family.

I consider 4+ to be a large family. 2 is average. 3 is borderline.

I would say anything more than 4 kids is a large family. 3-4 seems to be becoming more of a trend, especially with multiples!

agree with the posters who said 3 is borderline, 4 or more is large. I grew up in the midwest, but a college town so a transient community, and most families had 1-3 kids, and 2 was definitely the norm I'd say. I don't personally know anyone my age now with more than 3, though I know a couple people who want 4--seems overwhelming to me!

I think 5+.
3-4 is pretty typical of families I grew up with!
I also knew a lot of families wit 6+ kids (and I was one of them!)

I think if your family can't all be legally seated in a sedan, then your family is large. And if you need a transport van, then you are in huge family territory. That's pretty much my metric.
