I'm a WOHM and I loved this article. I swear I couldn't be a SAHM and I give huge kudos to anyone who can!

@prettylizy: Thanks so much for sharing that! I loved it so much! I'm a former attorney and now SAHM and I feel like people judge me for giving up a paycheck and career. I remember hearing a political speech and he was saying that it's such a disservice to women to make them feel like the only way they are making a difference or doing something important is if they have a job outside of the home. Yes, being a SAHM isn't for everyone, but some people make a career out of caring for young children...does it matter if I stay at home and care for my own child or go to a daycare and care for other children.
Anyway, I LOVED the blog post sooooooo much! Here was my favorite part:
Yes, my wife is JUST a mother. JUST. She JUST brings forth life into the universe, and she JUST shapes and molds and raises those lives. She JUST manages, directs and maintains the workings of the household, while caring for children who JUST rely on her for everything. She JUST teaches our twins how to be human beings, and, as they grow, she will JUST train them in all things, from morals, to manners, to the ABC’s, to hygiene, etc. She is JUST my spiritual foundation and the rock on which our family is built. She is JUST everything to everyone. And society would JUST fall apart at the seams if she, and her fellow moms, failed in any of the tasks I outlined.
Yes, she is just a mother. Which is sort of like looking at the sky and saying, “hey, it’s just the sun.”

I liked the post... mostly. Except I feel like he looks down on women who work in the same way he rages against people who look down on SAHMs. Like, oh well if you HAVE to work I guess that's okay but your poor, poor children/wife/husband/society.
"Of course not all women can be at home full time. It’s one thing to acknowledge that; it’s quite another to paint it as the ideal. To call it the ideal, is to claim that children IDEALLY would spend LESS time around their mothers. This is madness. Pure madness. It isn’t ideal, and it isn’t neutral. The more time a mother can spend raising her kids, the better. The better for them, the better for their souls, the better for the community, the better for humanity. Period."

@sandy: I'm glad you enjoyed it. I spend a year at home with DD on mat leave and even though I was terrified to go back to work but now I realise that staying at home was FAR more mentally draining than my job. I went shopping on my lunch today. Jusy sayin! lol!

@Mae: Agree..what's ideal is if a child is loved and cared for...parenting is a full time job for mothers who stay at home and mothers who work

@Mae: Being a SAHM is no joke...it's a huge amount of work. But I agree about looking down on WOHMs. Being a SAHM isn't for everyone just like being a WOHM isn't for everyone.

@sandy: exactly. Moms who work aren't NOT full time moms.
@Danizaur: I agree. I just think everyone should do what works best for their families and not make wide statements like obviously THIS way is ideal.
