My husband's best friend's mom just got diagnosed with a pretty fatal cancer. My husband researched it and a healthy person could live for 5 years if being treated, and the treatment is just as rough as the disease. However, she's not healthy so things aren't looking good at all. Also, his wife is pregnant so she's going through all sorts of stress and not taking care of herself or eating as much as she should.

I feel awful for them, but I don't really know what to do. Of course I said to call if they need anything or want me to bring by food, stop by to pick up some things from their house (they're pretty much living at the hospital now), etc. My husband's dropping off some homemade chocolate chip cookies right now. I thought we should give something healthier but he said comfort food and it's his friend so he knows him best.

Any ideas for something else I can do? I hate that they're going through this and I know there's nothing that can make it better, but I want to try!
