We are trying to stop eating out so much and we always eat lunch out on the weekend. Do you make a hot lunch? Do you do every man for himself?

Leftovers are a popular option. Otherwise, we tend to just kind of unload the fridge, before replenishing on Sunday evening, for the next week's meal plan. We'll chop fruit and veggies, slice cheese and meat, boil some eggs, and cut up some bread or set out crackers. Then we'll either sit around the table together, or set it up picnic style, outside.

I like doing a munchie plate. Cheese, crackers, peas or green beans, pepper slices, berries or fruit slices. She prefers "snack" to "lunch" so I say, "Okay, time for big snack!" lol Sometimes I'll toss some leftover rice or pasta noodles on the plate, too.

We eat out a lot on the weekends. I want to try to eat out less, but it is so crazy during the week, and not having to think about what to feed the family on weekends is a huge burden off my shoulder.

I like hot lunch all week, lol, but we plan lunch on the weekend just like any other meal.
This weekend we had: chicken salads and tomato soup with wontons.

Leftovers if we're at home. I always pack food for the kids when we're out due to food allergies. Lately I've been packing meals for DH and I as well. If we don't have leftovers, I raid the freezer for ideas.

I usually make a hot breakfast on Saturday. Sometimes we eat out in the evening or I make something simple/reheat leftovers. Sundays are often leftovers at home unless we are visiting with family.

Love this thread. We often eat out on weekends but I'm looking for ideas of things to make at home.

We eat the same as usual - leftovers, sandwiches/paninis, salads, soups, quesadillas, baked potatoes, sometimes mac and cheese... Sometimes I do a big brunch and then just let everyone eat heavy munchies. We also love to pack picnics. They like "rainbow picnics" which just involve fruits/veggies of all colors (last week was cherry tomatoes, carrots, yellow peppers, edamame, kiwi and blueberries with leftover popcorn shrimp and hummus/ranch dipping sauces). It's my most successful trick for getting them to eat fresh veggies.

@fussygal: there are recipes online. You should make copycat sauce. I just buy it by the quart and make them at home.

Usually brunch at home or out which is breakfast + lunch and dinner cooked at home (filets, shrimp scampi, scallops, homemade pizza, grilled burgers - anything "fun" that takes more time than we have on week nights!).
