Everything I read about breastfeeding says it should be done on demand. I have also read how much easier life with baby is if you are on a schedule. Is it possible to breastfeed on a schedule? Has anyone done this?

I don't think it's necessarily a conflict. At the beginning I fed every 3-4 hours and on demand, I mean if he wanted to eat sooner, I wouldn't make him wait.
In general after awhile you will have an idea of your baby's natural schedule, and that will help you plan things. But with growth spurts and other inevitable unplanned events, on demand is the healthy and humane way to go!

I think sometimes you just have to do what works for you and your family. I plan to get on a breastfeeding schedule as soon as the little one and I are able to.

I feel like it depends on the baby. For me a schedule is easier because then I have an easier time knowing what's wrong. If I know lo has eaten an hour ago and usually goes 3 hours, than she's probably tired or has a wet diaper.

after a while they naturally seem to fall into a schedule. olive gets hungry about every 3 hours, but if i offer her before 3 hours, she will usually take it. i do this when i have to leave her so i nurse before leaving.
with bottles i was much more scheduled, but with nursing much, much more lax since you can't overfeed a breastfed baby!

I just go with what feels right to me.

We don't have a schedule and I really thought I would by now. I'd she's hungry, I feed her. It's not really an issue though because you don't have to plan to be able to feed (prepare bottles/make sure you have enough/warm them etc) just go with the flow, they figure it out!

Same here. I just went with the flow in the beginning and eventually a natural schedule just emerged. So I went with that.
