just tried a new soup recipe and I hate it... totally tastes like baby food...
What do you do when you make a dinner that is gross?
As a last resort I totally know that my kid will eat it hahaha... that would be A LOT of baby food to freeze lol!

@Mrs. Tricycle: bahaha I love it.
I have no idea what to eat for dinner now. Shoot.

This happens a lot more frequently than I would like to admit. It is typically a take out night unless we are too tired or it is too late then it is a crackers and peanut butter kind of night. My husband is very low maintenance and has very low expectations for my cooking abilities so he is great with going with the flow.

If it's really terrible I'll toss it.
I haven't had to toss any food in a long time though!

well grabbing take out is out of the picture since DH has the car and is at work until 10:30

Cereal! Or can you salvage it by making it spicy? That sometimes works...

I make my DH eat it, he has low standards when it comes to what is edible. I will scrounge then, I can usually find a cup of noodles or something in the cupboard.

I don't think I've ever made an inedible meal, because I taste and change recipes as I go along. I have had things not cook properly though, or burn, in which case I'll just toss it and eat a quick meal like a bean salad or soup.

My dinner wasn't great tonight either, but it was edible. Recently I made meatloaf with oatmeal in it and after already putting the oatmeal in it I realized the oatmeal had lots of teeny tiny bugs in it. It was a brand new unopened box too. Obviously I tossed it and we went out.

It only happened once that it was so bad I can't eat it (slow cooker completely and totally burned all the chicken) so we ordered pizza from the place down the street (walking distance, bonus). Otherwise I'll suffer through it for one serving and maybe not save the rest. Or more likely, but the rest in the fridge, never want it, and toss it after it sits there for a week or two. I'm gross.
In your situation, sounds like a cereal or scrambled eggs for dinner kind of night.

I recently tried making a soup that turned out absolutely horrible. Since it didn't have any garlic or onions, I gave some to our golden retriever, who didn't think it was as bad as I did
@artbee: Ew! At our old apartment, we had so many of those teeny tiny bugs in our pantry. It was so gross. I couldn't figure out why, because the apartment itself was pretty new and in great condition. Plus I'm super clean and OCD. I had to throw away everything in the pantry but the bugs STILL came back. Ugh!

That happened to me tonight! I made Roasted Herbed Sausage and Butternnut Squash today. It roasted too long and the butternut squash was so mushy. Gross. I ate the sausage out of it and asked DH to take it away. I pretend that it didn't just go in the garbage.

@Foodnerd81: @alphagam84: @adnama: @Baby Boy Mom: I don't eat cereal
And we were out of eggs!! I found some leftovers from the other day. Nothing special
We'll see what DH thinks when he tastes it lol

If it's disgusting, I'll throw it away and make something fast and easy, like ramen noodles.

My DH usually eats it. He's my human garbage disposal.
If it's horrible, I put it in the fridge and try it in the morning. Sometimes food gets better as it sits.
If not, I'll toss it in a few days.

If it is really terrible I will usually toss it bc yucky leftovers are the worst. I usually will eat peanut butter and jelly toast or cheese and crackers as a back up meal. This hasn't happened in a long time

I don't think I've ever made anything unedible... But if it was really gross the dogs would get it ( lucky them!! Lol)
