We recently moved and I want to find a photographer to take pictures of T for our holiday cards. I have no idea how to go about finding someone - we've always hired people on word of mouth, but I don't have that here.

I check out their blog and make sure that I like their style. Composition and minimal editing are important to me!

I usually look for some one that includes digital files. I hate when we can only look at the pics and order them through the photographer. I also look for someone that has pictures from more than 2 or 3 shoots in their gallery so I know they can get good shots in a variety of settings and different people.

My local news does a best of the state contest for restaurants, photographers, salons, etc. I look up who the top ten photographers are each year and google their blogs and reviews.
