I don't love my apartment (at all!). But, I do love my neighborhood/community and we hope to buy in this same area. We have great farmer's markets, lots of parks, and lots of small, local businesses.

our home:
plenty of space to live and grow
relatively quiet
our rent is a steal
easy to spot when looking at an aerial view of the city because we're close to a distinct landmark

our neighborhood:
super convenient to walk to grocery stores, restaurants, the bookstore, dessert places
very convenient to the post office, fedex and shipping center that i need for work
a national park where i hike/jog/walk regularly is just a few blocks away
nice temperate weather almost all year round
tons of playgrounds nearby for when the time comes
tons of preschools in the area
the city's best hospital for childbirth is right around the corner
typically doesn't take more than 20 minutes to get to any other part of the city by car
a handful of good bus lines run very close by

i'm sure there's more ... we really really want to be able to live here (in this neighborhood) for a long time

I love living so close to my parents. I love living in a nice city. I love the shopping center 2 minutes from my house that has everything. I love thatwe have a walking trail like right behind our yard. I love having a mountain a short 5 minute walk away.

We live in a artsy fartsy town, and there's always something going on. Every third friday there's an arts and crafts festival with live music, there's lots of different festivals (seafood festival, italian festival, chalk art festival, etc.) and they have things happening for all the different holidays. There's cute little shops and yummy restaurants in the center of town, which is two minutes away.

For the most part I love the weather. It's usually nice and warm here.

I love that I'm so close to family.

And I love that I'm so close to the beach.

Love my town because I know how to get everywhere,
2 hours to the beach
3 hours to the mountians
There is so much new construction, we're getting all kinds of new restaurants and stores
My entire extended family (DH's too!) lives within 30 minutes of us
It's not a big city, but not super rural either
Always new people coming and going (Military)
Fourth Friday (hippy festival downtown every month)
Our downtown is turning into a really nice area
Not far from a ton of places, great for day-trips!

Many people would positively HATE where I live, but I love it. I love the solitude and privacy. I love that my kids have acres and acres of countryside to explore. I love the quietness and the lack of traffic noise, except for the whine of the combine engines during harvest. I love the wind in the grasses. I love the huge sky. I love having the space to be able to raise our own livestock. I love our 300 days of sun a year.
Yes, cheesy and cliched, but I really do love all of that and so much more. To me, it's a good tradeoff for the 75 miles to a decent grocery store and 100 miles to Target.

I grew up in nyc where everything was fast paced, everyone was in a hurry, often defensive and skeptical of strangers, and there was a lack of "neighborly love". I now live in dallas and the culture here is such a polar opposite. Everyone is friendly, ppl sit down and enjoy their meal & company, and that whole "southern hospitality" is real folk. I love the change of pace. It's relaxing, less agitating and really good for managing my stress level.

We live in a large midwestern college town. I love the amount of activity there is, and I love how bicycle-friendly it is. Lots of fun things to do around, and there are 3 different large cities within two hours. It is just a friendly community, and I like it!
