What is okay to put in the dishwasher at your house? What's on your no-no list? DH and I argue over this all the time and i'm curious as to what is the norm for others! Pots? Pans? Nice knives? Plastic?

We put in everything except for wooden utensils and knives. Ooh, and stuff that doesn't fit. Lol.

We don't put nice pots, pans, knives, wood. We put our cheap pans, pot lids, and plastic on the top rack.
@MrsTiz: wood dries out and can crack.

I'm VERY picky with what goes in the dishwasher! I never put any pots and pans in there, no nice knives, barely any plastics, no wooden utensils, no wine glasses.
I will put all of our plates, bowls, regular silver ware, glasses, leftover containers (Rubbermaid)
I wash a lot by hand but thats ok.

No high quality knives, and none of the nicer pots and pans. Pretty much everything else goes in there.

The only knives that go into our d/w are butter knives.
There's a long list of no nos including pots, pans, "nice" dishes, any glasses with decals. basically the only thing that goes in are our everyday porcelain dishes forks, spoons, pub glasses.

We use the dishwasher for everyday plates, cups, bowls, and silverware. Anything wooden, plastic, or crystal is hand washed, along with large glass bowls, pots/pans/lids, bakeware, and most knives.

I throw everything in the dishwasher.. I don't heat dry though.

Everything but our really good pots and pans, even though they're supposedly dishwasher-safe.

My husband knows that my hard anodized cookware, large dishes and dishes with stuck on food does not go in the dishwasher.

Oh year, we don't put our wine glasses or nice pots and pans in there, either.

My pots and pans come from IKEA, so you'd better believe they go in the dishwasher when needed. The only thing I don't put in are our Shun knives.

No pots and pans, no wood (only applies to our nice wooden salad bowls, I put my wooden sauce spoons in there all the time), no big cutting board or colander only bc they don't fit.

If it cant go in the dishwasher, I don't want it in my house.

We don't put nice knives in there but everything else is pretty much fair game.

No knives and no wood. Other than that (when my dishwasher is working) everything else goes in after it's been rinsed.

I never knew about not putting wood utensils in dishwasher because they can crack.
I actually like putting them in the dishwasher because I feel they can be cleaner because the dishwasher sanitizes them. It kinda freaks me out that there might be things growing on my wood utensils. Plus, the wood utensils I have are pretty cheap. I bought a 5 pack at Walmart. If they crack, I'll just throw them out.
Need to remind myself not buy expensive wood utensils, though.

same as everybody else - no nice knives, no pots/pans, no nice china, no nice wine glasses. we put wooden utensils and chopsticks in there, but they sometimes come out warped. they're cheap though, so i don't really care that much.

No fancy glasses, no wood (except for wooden spoons - I figure they are cheap enough that it doesn't matter). No knives with handles (cause they expand at different rates than the steel and then separate from the blade), no baking sheets or pans and no cast iron.
@bluestriped bee: Did you know that wood has natural anti-bacterial properties? You don't need to be scared of hand-washing if you ever get something fancy.

everything. but our current house doesn't have a dishwasher. BOOOO!

Clean dishes go in the dish washer--it's my drying rack.
LOL... and things that don't fit go in there. But since it's a drying rack, I put everything from China to tuperware, and crystal to baby bottles.

We put pretty much anything that fits. I didn't know about the wood though. Makes sense.

Almost everything. The only exceptions are my Paula Deen pots & pans and a wooden salad bowl set that we have.
